MkII alarm issues
Hi All,
My 1Z RS is having issues with the alarm. The alarm started going off randomly the other day, which I know could be a dead battery in the alarm unit.
But I've also had the yellow engine warning light come on, and have noticed the door lock switch on the console has also stopped working.
When I lock the car with either the remote or the key, it sometimes behaves normally in that the light red light on the door trim starts flashing as usual. Other times, I'll get a solid red light for 10 secs or so before it then starts flashing as normal.
A few times I've locked the car and the alarm has gone off instantly or within 10 secs or so. I've been turning the interior sensor off with the switch, so it's not a moth or whatever inside the car.
I've sprayed wd40 in the drivers door lock, and the bonnet and boot latches in case any of the sensors were dirty. I then locked the car, noticed the red light was flashing as normal, and so far the alarm hasn't gone off.
So, does anyone have any clues? Engine light could be unrelated, but it seems a big coincidence that the console switch stopped working at the same time the alarm played up. I'll get it to the mechanic in the next few days so they can run diagnostics, but just wanting to know if there's anything else I can check/do to prevent the alarm going off at 3am! Is there a separate fuse for the alarm?
Thanks for any help!
