    Mk3 RS 162TSI fuel consumption...

I picked up the car during winter month and it has averaged about 450-500km per tank before I re-fuel, which is pretty average. Now that the weather has gone warmer in Brisbane, the fuel consumption is positively mind boggling, I can get 350km on just under half a tank which is somewhat as advertised 6.4l/100km. Not that I'm complaining but that much difference?

Started doing this about a month ago, I thought i forgot to reset the trip meter but this keeps happening after two re-fuel cycle and I kept an eye on how many liter went into the tank, everything seems to adds up. I'm under the impression the car only has 50 liter tank.

I'm trying to get a consensus on the fuel consumption of other mk3 RS TSI. Does your car produce better mileage on warmer months?

FYI, I use Mobil 98 octane from my local 7-11 and the car has done about 8000km.

As the engine loosens up the fuel consumption will get better, so the difference you have noticed is more than likely due to the engine being run in and loosening up.

Cars will generally run better (better mileage) during the colder months too - especially turbo cars.

Although with the added performance gains in the colder weather one usually uses WOT more too!!!

On briskoda there are many who say when it gets cold they get worse economy, but more power. That combined with a looser engine = better economy

Edit: regardless, that's bloody awesome economy

During my last fill up I got 635km out of 48L and the time before that was 650km from the same amount. This is a mixture of driving with the occasional WOT in sport mode up to the speed limit. This is with start stop disabled. I'm happy with the fuel consumption. I think I can get more out of it if I drive the car in a more behaved manner though its hard.

The first tank of fuel I got from the dealer only lasted 500km. Mind you my car only has 2200km on it atm. Next tank i'll try and ease as much as possible and report my findings. I only use BP Ultimate

Edit: You'll always get more kms out of the first half. I usually get 350-400kms

I get better fuel consumption in warmer weather too.
warmup is quicker (obviously) and steady state running is about 0.6 l/100 improved (inc a/c use).
Watch that first half tank thing though, I get 500+ on mine and then 300 on next.
It is only a 1.4tsi though

Is that around town Gerry? Or when you do the long trips. 800 around town is crazy good!

    Thanks for all the reply.

RE: Engine loosening up, I didn't really notice this with any of my previous car, one being a Tiguan with previous gen 2.0TSI motor.

Definitely will watch the first half tank thing.

I always disable the auto start stop, found them very annoying.

    Not a mk3........
I drove to Melbourne, from Canberra, approx 660 km, and still hadn't reached the red zone! Still had another 100km or so left.
    was 6.4L/100km.
Plenty of enthusiastic overtaking maneuvers with the stage 2+...was very impressed.

I'll get 800 when at least 70% of tank is on a long trip, otherwise average is 6.7 l/100 around suburbs but you do have to use a few economy tricks such as coasting in neutral and using a long gear for deceleration, lights anticipation etc.
You cannot speed in Adelaide, and progress is no slower. It was easier in the diesel.
I can better the average but the wife drives the car as well.
Leaving the car with the dealers to investigate the hesitation-when-cold put the biggest hole in my stats though.
Consumption at tickover is 0.4l/hour (0.7 with a/c), I believe 4litre Falcon is about 1.5l/hour.
