I think its pretty conservative with empty estimates, the tank is 55L but I've never got close to getting that much in there.

New tank is 50l, but it's amazing how many on briskoda fill 50l each time into it.

Previous model was 55 and you could do a bafflectomy and get 60l in. It would have been nice to have a larger tank, so 1000k was achievable in petrol models

Thats my only criticism of the new octavia. Should've kept the 55L tank.

There is a guy in WA with a mk7 Golf who claims to regularly put more than 57L in its claimed 50L tank. I know with my mk7 Golf that I put 50L in when the gauge is halfway through the red and with around 60km still showing on the range display. It's a 90 TSI and it's easy to get over 1000km from a tankful as long as it doesn't involve too much urban work. I'd imagine the Octavia is the same.

OTOH, heaps of posts on Briskoda about driving untile the DTE reads 30km & only fitting 40L in.

On my Mk2 the "refuel now" warning means I've got about 8L left

Strange, guess they wanted that 5L for something else, but I always found the 55L wasn't quite enough for me and wanted 60L.

When the warning comes on in a mk7 Golf it takes 48L. I have now done 54,000km in it already in 16 months and it has happened more than a dozen times and is consistent with that reading. It always happens as the gauge reaches the red. It also takes 33L when the gauge is showing half full. It will have done around 650km at that stage. It doesn't even leave the full mark until it has done over 250km.

Just another one of those variations between the brands I guess.
