MK3 Octavia - List of Defects, Faults and Issues

Hi,

I've had this happen 5 times now, it occurred to me this morning that every time it's happened bar one has been in the same place and the other one was in heavy rain. I'm wondering if a radar based speed sensor / camera is responsible for disabling? It's happening on the on ramp to the ICB from Lutwyche Rd in Brisbane, just where two lanes merge into one before joining the ICB. Anyone else experienced this?

I've also upgraded from a 6R Polo GTI as a daily, I tend to agree with you that the gear changes via paddles or selector aren't quite as responsive as the Polo but I think that there isn't necessarily anything wrong with my car, it's just that the shift speed on the dry clutch Polo gearbox was bloody quick. Much quicker than any Renault, Mercedes or wet clutch VAG dual clutch gearboxes I've tried. Also, I think that the calibration on the Polo DSG was for a different audience (& rubbish), the calibration on the RS is a lot more intuitive, I barely feel the need to slap it into manual, I used to drive the Polo ONLY in manual and never used 'S' for Stupid. The Skoda sports gearbox calibration is much more usable although it has taken some time to break the habit.

There's a good video on 'Engineering Explained' youtube channel regarding dual clutch gear pre-selection that answers why sometimes a DSG car will hesitate or seem to shift slowly.

It's not that it hesitates it dosnt change at all. Hit it a couple of times still no change. And it's not in a position to overrev. It seems to be better now it was real bad when I first got it. Maybe it was just during the first thousand Kay's. only done 5k so far
