    Mines brand new and the front rattles when closed.

    Not the biggest of issues but Iv noticed that the gearbox is really slow to respond, very picky about wether it wants to change or just doesn't respond. when you hit the paddles in drive. Coming from my polo gti which had no problems changing when you hit the paddle. For example you could be in D5 but double tap the down paddle and it would automaticly flick to manual like mode and drop to 3rd. You could keep flicking the paddles as desired. then after a set time after the last gear was changed it would go back to drive. Or you could hold the up and it would go back to drive. The octavia just won't change on command. Hit the paddle and nothing. On the odd occasion it will drop but few and far between. Any one else notice this? There seems to be no correlation with road speed, RPM, current gear ect. Anyone read or no anything on this?

    I've only driven one DSG vehicle and it behaved impeccably and rapidly to the flappy paddles, just like your Polo GTi .
    Sounds like you should take it back to the dealer to fix.

    I haven't had any issues with the paddle shift (when in 'auto' mode) - I used them quite a bit during the run-in period to vary engine revs as much as possible. Always changed instantly, up or down.
    What I have noticed on occasion though, is that the gearbox is quite clunky dropping back to 2nd (in 'D' mode) - I seem to recall someone else mentioning this. It kind of feels like the clutch is re-engaging too quickly in the downshift from 3rd.

    Balmy sydney day today and left windows cracked an inch (both front) while picking up dinner. When i closed the door there was a horrible rattle. When i came back to the car i opened the passenger door to see if it made the same sound when shut - same ugly rattle.

    A bit surprised. Dont ever remember my golf glass in doors being so loose and rattle prone when not completely shut.

    Small niggle.

    Also - first time i opened the sunglasses hideaway in roof it made a horrid scratching sound and one of the flimsy metal springs which operate the opening release after press popped out.... Again comparison to my golf, i used the sunglasses holder all the time and never an issue. Will be asking Skoda to have a squiz when i have first service done.

    I've found this too. The car's engine turns off while the car is still rolling slightly, which is disconcerting, so I try to brake more gently until I've fully stopped, then press harder to turn engine off. Not sure if this is a default action, or something the car will "learn" and modify with my driving style over time....

    The "screen turns off after 10 seconds" setting in infotainment only remembers for the current drive.

    Resets to unticked when turning car off.

    Really annoying, as I like having a blank screen not distracting me, until I wave my hand in front of it.
    The ONLY time I'd like it permanently on, is during the navigation screen.

    Is this a bug, or default setting? And is it something that can be hacked with VCDS?
    It would be handy to have a secondary tickbox in the settings, to allow permanent screen-on during nav, but able to screen-off any other time.

    Seems pointless having a tickbox selection, if the car is automatically going to ignore/forget it the next time you start the car?

    To compare - every other tickbox selection remembers the setting I choose.

    Mine is nothing like this... certainly doesn't sound right to me.

    I have the same issue here, literally the engine dies when doing about 5-10km/hr with the car rolling another 1-2m. My wife's 2014 Golf doesn't do this either, but I guess it's just a different setting somewhere. What I do really wish all stop start cars had was an "override" button on the steering wheel to prevent the engine stopping temporarily. The number of times I've had it stop and immediately restart is very high.

    I've also upgraded from a 6R Polo GTI as a daily, I tend to agree with you that the gear changes via paddles or selector aren't quite as responsive as the Polo but I think that there isn't necessarily anything wrong with my car, it's just that the shift speed on the dry clutch Polo gearbox was bloody quick. Much quicker than any Renault, Mercedes or wet clutch VAG dual clutch gearboxes I've tried. Also, I think that the calibration on the Polo DSG was for a different audience (& rubbish), the calibration on the RS is a lot more intuitive, I barely feel the need to slap it into manual, I used to drive the Polo ONLY in manual and never used 'S' for Stupid. The Skoda sports gearbox calibration is much more usable although it has taken some time to break the habit.

    There's a good video on 'Engineering Explained' youtube channel regarding dual clutch gear pre-selection that answers why sometimes a DSG car will hesitate or seem to shift slowly.
