    Mk 2 vRS Parkers

    Hi,

    Anyone out there with a Mk2 vRS could you please confirm or otherwise that the vRS parkers don't actually come on. I understand from reading some of the OS forums that this is because the vRS has DRLs hence parkers are not required?

    I got a bulb failure light come up so checked all the lights and noticed that when I turn the light switch to parkers, no lights come on at all, hence my question above.

    This is correct. The DRL's dim down and act as parking lights.
    The parkers in the vRS aren't actually wired in.
    2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.

    As Mysticality stated, the DRL's dim down and the rear is light-up like a xmas tree. I normally just flick the blinker up to have the the right side light, if parking for a long period to save on battery drain.

    Edit: When you say "when I turn the light switch to parkers, no lights come on at all" are the rear park light on or not functioning as well? I just pulled a bulb from the rear and all light function (excluding the one pulled). I will ask the obvious, have you checked the fuse (if all park light are not functioning).

    Yes the rears work fine. Just no lights on the fronts when I switch to parkers only. I couldn't find the fuse # for the parkers in the manual?

    The bulb warning light message is saying "rear left side light...I understand there's more than one bulb in the rears so I'm assuming one of these has gone whilst the rest are working.

    Parker/brake is one globe; varies voltage for functions.
    Two T10's handle the outside parking lights.
    Parker/fog is also one globe; varies voltage for functions.

    Turn the parkers on, at night, and just have a look around.
    Also, make sure your DRL's come on as parkers!

    After posting my response, I decide to check the fuse location and amp rating etc, and the owners manual is not very helpful. I also discovered the layout is incorrect as I have fuses fitted to non assigned locations and fuse not fitted in other areas. I have sent an email to Skoda (Aust) will be interesting to see their response.

    Dear Sir/Madam
    I was checking the fuse layout of the subject vehicle (page 196) of the owners manual, and there seems to be many discrepancies in the manual to the card layout and actual fuse block. Therefore, has Skoda (Aust) made amendments to the manual and/or the card layout. If so can Skoda (Aust) please forward the correct label for the card layout or arrange for the dealer to rectify this.


    Furthermore, I realise that some items/functions are not fitted to car and do not require fuse protection in those areas but, why are there fuses fitted to "non assigned" locations. If a fuse did blow I have know idea to the correct fuse to replace, which could be considered a hazard if head-light or parking-light failed during inclement weather of night time.

    So fuse #49 is for all lights.....so if some lights are working and others aren't, then it can't be a fuse, yeah?

    What year is your MKII, as the manual states slot 13 = Diagnostic socket & Light switch and slot 49 = Light Switch. However, I do not have fuses in either of these slots (but every thing works correctly) so if I ever blow a fuse for the headlights, I will have to pull every fuse to find which one has blown.

    Have you checked the fuse box in the engine bay?
