If this thing came in diesel, I would be all over it.

Might I just say... Oh my god.

That looks good.. but the article does note it falls short of the Octavia in space - which is one of the trump cards of the Skoda.

Interesting to see the two spec levels as well - a reasonably kitted base, and then a $5k premium package - keeps things simple.

Nice and probably a great ride but not again. After having owned a few modern Renaults, depreciation, parts availability, reliability post warranty and dealing with renault dealers.

I really admire Renault Australia for bringing the GT220 Estate in, it's a good decision and I'm so happy to have more unique cars for sale here. Having said that, it's a smaller car than the Octy RS, with more power and torque, yet it's also slower to 100km/h? Considering they're only bringing in 200 of them, and as Antiplastix pointed out, it is French (so it will almost definitely be unreliable), I don't think that Skoda should be worried. The new Octavia III RS will smash this.

Is this really so different to Skoda? Some of the most common concerns on this forum seem to be depreciation, parts and dealers.

Reliability is the key difference and Renault excels in gouging even more than vw for parts and service.

My brother had a diesel renault that was towed under warranty from Wangaratta to Melbourne to Sydney to Brisbane to repair a problem, after replacing turbos and other parts Renault Oz gave up and sent the vehicle to a independent repairer. Turns out the catalytic converter had collapsed and it took 8 weeks for one to show up on the slow boat from France.
