MDI Connection for iPod / iPhone

Good luck. I escalated this with a dealer and Skoda Australia shortly after mine was delivered and neither were particularly concerned the brochure was incorrect.

Thats the way I read it. You may well get very confusing if not incorrect info from the dealer. This is unfortunately not uncommon, particularly with specific infotainment features like this.

Thanks Kamold. Sounds like that's at the source of the issue. Just spoke to the dealer and they'll have a look with my equipment next time I'm in the neighbourhood.

Ah ok, so it's a known issue then? That's annoying. I don't want this to be the thing that sours my Skoda experience. The silly thing is an MDI was hardly a make or break deal for me, it's just when the brochure says it's there and turns out not to be, it's frustrating.

I loaded 500 songs from Itunes to an SD card and it works very well (mk III Occy). I have 5 sources of music: 2 SD cards, the Jukebox internal hard drive and plug in device and blue tooth. Cant complain.

My ipod works fine through the USB port, all album covers show up on the screen and all functions are available. My Nokia is also connected by Bluetooth at the same time.

Is it as simple as dragging and dropping the files from your iTunes directory to the sd card? (I feel like my father, asking these questions)

Do you know what head unit is fitted in your car? And also how old is the ipod?

Apple's native format is AAC, but iTunes should be able to export as MP3 which is what the car needs. If you can't work out how to export MP3's find a free AAC to MP3 converter.

The other thing is if you put the SD Card into a Mac it puts 'shadow' files of all the songs on the card too and this makes navigating the SD card a pain. So put the SD card into a Windows computer after you've had it in a Mac and throw away the 'shadow' files.

I have a former background in software development, but better than that I have teenage children...
If you don't have the requisite teenager, you will need to search for the location of your music library and then drag and drop the files to your SD card. Do it outside of ITunes.
