    Long Range Communications

    Hey, all!!

Today Umai Naa and I finished the install of the UHF radio to my Octy.
I was surprised how long it took to get the antenna line through the firewall. (about 5min. *facepalm*)

Now, before you guys start telling me this all looks ugly and what an atrocity, etc, bare in mind that I have had the need for one of these before. (Youth event management roles, etc)
The big white one is for 3G. I travel a lot.

So, lets get down to the pics!!

    UHF Whip

    3G

    Front of the Octy

    All mounted and connected

    External speaker mounted under dash

    Main unit mounted

Switches. Rear is UHF; front is not connected to anything yet. Will either be amp or driving lights, eventually.

If you want more pics or info, do not hesitate to ask.

What phone are you using with the 3G? Not many have an antenna socket nowadays. How/where did you get through the firewall?

And yes, that is the full shockin' rural bogan travesty allright What you need now is the over sized Bundy mudflaps on the back, B&S stickers on the back window and you're set.

Actually working in the country I get the need for a phone antenna.

Sorry to go off topic, but...I notice the insulation on the underside of the bonnet. Are all RS meant to have this, because my MY11 doesn't!

    Unfortunately, yeah.
I've been entertaining the idea of spot lights for awhile, though. Currently my thoughts are HID's mounted to the metal bar behind the plastic bumper; or flush-mounted LED's from Rigid Industries. But this is a work in progress.

So far; none. I'm using my E6 until December, when my Optus contract runs out... After which, I'm going to be moving to a WP8 Nokia with a Carcomm (or similar) antenna connection.
I'm in I.T. so I have to know my stuff - and having internet anywhere is an amazing help, when you're mobile.

Don't worry. I'm not getting any of that crap.
Only thing I *might* do is see if I can swap the white one for a black one - same one that the cops use.

I'll take a pic of the firewall hole later today. Its located under/behind the battery, about 10cm.
Umai Naa helped with the install - that guy does an amazing job.

Only the diesels - because, apparently, nobody wants to hear the engine in the diesel!!
Actually, can you post a pic of yours? I wanna compare them.
