Lock Nuts?

Have you got a key ? It should be in with the jack etc on top of the spare. It looks a bit like a socket but with a weird pattern where it goes over the bolt.

I checked that my (pre-FL) vRS had the key AND that the key fitted all 4 locking bolts before I drove off when I picked mine up. I figured it might be slightly awkward if I had a flat tyre and couldn't get it off to put the spare on.

I don't think that the face lift vRS models come with locking wheel nuts. I can't find any evidence of them being fitted on mine and the manual indicates that they are optional.

Nope - checked the tool kit. No key. I guess if Kiwi didn't get one either, then the FLs dont' get them (It's not specifically listed in the specs, and I made the mistake of assuming that since the pre-FLs had them the FL would too...)

So, that leads to the next question - is there anywhere that would have the bolt sizes listed? I couldn't see them in the manual, and it would be nice to avoid having to pull one off and measure it myself. Also, any recommendations as to where would be a good place to order from/go to to get locking nuts?

it's written on the wall at home & I'm at work but 12mm x 1.5(thread pitch) rings a bell. You can buy them off Skoda spares - they aren't OTT pricewise (not in the UK anyway) Should also be able to get the plastic covers (the locknuts have a different cover).

Look in the Gold MKV section - somebody bought some there & mentions part #s & prices. Possibly in the "What did you do to your MKV" thread.

My dad went to get the rear tyres changed around 6 months ago and we were in the waiting room one of the workmen came in and asked where the adaptor for the locking-wheelnut was. We had no clue of the car actually having one, but there is one locking-wheelnut on every wheel (leaving 4 normal other wheelnuts on every wheel) and he said that this is standard equipment on most Euro vehicles.

The adaptor is in the little storage spot above the spare-wheel (where the jack etc is placed) and my 08' RS has it so I'm not sure about other models. The locking nut is visibly different to the others so it would be easy to spot.

There are no wheel lock nuts on my car.
The tool kit (I'm using the term euphemistically) consists on a jack, a wheel brace and a towing eye. There is a cut out in the foam for a lock nut "key" but there is no key present. I have also checked all five wheel nuts on each wheel and every one of them is a standard wheel nut. There are no keyed nuts with covers over them.

To be honest I'm pretty sure my pre FL had them on it, as I vaguely remember being shown where the adaptor was. I wonder what else has been dropped silently from the RS.

But you now get the Bolero and the MDI option and LED DRLs....the other things are comparable really.

Hi everyone, apologies for resurrecting this thread. But I just wanted to confirm that the FL RS does not come with wheel locking bolts and hence we need to purchase these separately in case we want to protect our wheels?

Assuming this (and I'm still awaiting the delivery of my RS sedan - hoping to get it by 3rd week of March), I wanted to ask if anyone has purchased McGards Locking bolts for their RS?

My research (on Briskoda and VW Vortex) showed that they are quite reputable. So I now want to now confirm the correct size of locking bolts for for FL RS wheels (18" Neptunes), before ordering these.

McGards site search shows that the correct bolt type and size for the VW Gti (Mk V onwards) is M14 x 1.5 Thread Size, Radius type seat. The part no. is 28018. The bolt length is 1.84" with Shank length 1.05"

Unfortunately McGard's site does not have Skoda cars listed and hence I can't fit the exact part no. for the RS.

I wanted to request if any one can please confirm whether these will fit on the RS (or does the bolt length seem a bit short?).

I want to ask my cousin who is visting me from the US to buy a set for me (as the price of these in the US is really cheap as compared to Oz), and hence I'd really appreciate your assistance at the earliest.

I do honestly wonder whether there is much benefit putting them on at all. I've never had wheels stolen, I've never heard of anyone since the 80s getting their wheels stolen unless they are the real mag alloys that some cars eg Porsche use. Once upon a time only certain cars had alloys, these days they come with pretty much every model, and if you go to sell the OEM ones they are worth bugger all.
