Live Traffic enabled - integrate into satnav?

I've managed to get the live traffic updates working on my car, and they display on the "traffic" button on my Columbus.

However, I can't see that they actually integrate into the satnav for diverting away from incidents/jams.

Last week, the satnav directed me onto a freeway, despite several traffic incident markers displaying on the screen further up the freeway, which was integrated from the live traffic updates.

So I know those work..... but the nav did nothing to try to divert me away from the congestion and instead directed me directly into the stopped-traffic.

I've been through all settings in the nav & infotainment system and can't find anything specifically that mentions integration with live traffic for on-the-fly diversions.

Interesting - I hadn't noticed that! Yes you get markers and red lines along the busy roads, but I'm also unsure if it diverts around them. My commute doesn't really have many viable alternative routes so I expect it would have to be pretty bad traffic to make another route worthwhile anyway. Another thing to investigate!

I have had the navigation system divert based upon traffic incidents. I haven't had to alter any settings to have it do this, mind you it doesn't divert around every bit of road works.

Does it do the diversion automatically without your input?

Can you see that it's made an adjustment to the original route, based on diverting around traffic?

I have had the system announce that it is re-routing due to roadworks / accident then provides a new set of directions with no input from me.

Yes it definitely will reroute you. In my case into even worse traffic whereas if it had left me on the road I was on, I would have past the blockage and been back to normal so make sure you don't just blindly follow it. I was in very heavy traffic yesterday and it led me right into every traffic jam so it's not so good at doing that. There is much to be said about using Tomtoms software like other companies as it leaves the OEM things for dead.

Tested this last night, definitely changed route due to traffic. Was turn left in 2km which changed to turn left in 500m. My car is a late 2015 build MY 16.

Dynamic Route is an option in the Nav Setup menu. Mine was ticked on by default.

Yes - when I updated nav maps on weekend, I changed setting from "offer 3 types of route" to "quickest"...... so I'll try dynamic and see if that makes any difference.

Hmmm.... fiddling around with the nav settings yesterday realised that the "dynamic route" is already selected.

Perhaps I need to find some more traffic jams to test the re-routing on!
