You drove all the way to Albury from Sydney under 80KPH? Not worth the fuel saving to do that. I think I am about to do the same trip in the same car at 10 kph over the speed limits all the way and it will be interesting to see the difference if I have to do it. Mind you I am pedalling at a million miles an hour to avoid it as the trip is one I hate, boring as hell mixed up with all the roadworks in NSW unless they have finished of course.

Loved the old Rules in the ACT when i got my license... obey the speed limit.

Im doing my L's on a motor bike at the moment and at 36 is pretty rough being told you can only do 80kph when you cross the border.

Here in the ACT I get to do the speed limit... ( At least Learners here get experience doing the speed limit.)

That would be a good reason, I never had L's for more than two days as that was how long it took to organise a driving test. Passed that and drove to Melbourne from Sydney the next day and in those days there were no speed limits so pedal to the metal, the car didn't go that fast so no one else was in danger! I have driven that trip well over two hundred times and can't imagine having to do it at 80KPH, I think I would pass on that experience thanks.

When I got my licence in NZ you had to be 15 years and one day old to sit the test. When you passed (nobody failed that I ever met) you got your licence no L's, no P's, no restrictions of any kind.

Unbelievably, in 2011 you can get a drivers licence at 14yrs and 3 months in South Dakota USA. !
