    It's Octavia disguised!

After getting the Octavia vRS as the family car.. I think this might be the small car alternative to replace our current Pulsar!

    Not sure if want.

Going to try push mum from her '06 1.6 Rio to the Fabia DSG... Or Fabia vRS.
Considering the k's she does... :S

its not an octavia replacer btw. its designed to fit between the fabia and soon to b release "bigger" octavia.

but that's basically a version of the existing VW Vento. the sedan version of the vw polo.
saw a few when i was in india about a yr ago.

    vw vento......

    vs
    skoda rapid

    vento...

    vs rapid

    vs rapid

mind u.....i prefer the look of the rapid. probably cause i own a skoda already........

its interesting to note that it still sports the old badge design. i was under the impression it would b released with the new skoda badge!!!

I'm sure it will have the new Skoda badge when released...this seems to be a 'test mule' with mocked up head and tail lights (and a seemingly oversized grill..and fake black shutlines on the rear door)..the actual Rapid front and rear end will look somewhat different to this mule.

I thought the Rapid was Jetta-based as suggested in recent media articles and as it appears in those spy pics at the Nurburgring? The Indian-spec Rapid is Vento-based (so really it's just a Fabia saloon) but the world version is meant to be larger? They cannot charge Jetta money for a Vento-sized car.

The Rapid is slotting in near (just a fraction smaller than) where the current Octavia is placed and the new Octavia is going up in size to compete against the Camry-sized class (and also the new Jetta technically, although it wont be a sedan knowing VW needing to keep Skoda from having similar sized vehicles).

I don't like how it looks.
It doesn't bode well for the next Octy. (IMO)

That being said, I love the look of the current vRS.

I agree, if you look closely at the decals stuck over front and rear lights, you can see it's pretty much a Mission L underneath...

Does anyone have access to any news on the upcoming Octy (release dates, specs etc) I haven't seen anything yet and it would be high on my list of replacements for the Family wagon.

See: 2013 Skoda Octavia - first glance | Cool Cars

Design language seems to be along lines of Mission L, Octavia will definitely share that 'family' look in common with Rapid. Release date unknown.
