    Iso Fix Child seats

Anyone using one of these in their octavia? I have a new one due in Feb and would like to buy an iso fix as my current one for number 1 child is a pain in the ass to install.

basically i'd like to know what models people have bought that were a good fit and those that weren't

Can't tell you which model it is but highly recommend it. But put a towel down under the seat from the back to the end of the base. Legally you have to use the top tether, but that's easy enough to do. They just clip in and out once you take the tether off.

I'd go the Safe n Sound meridian or the platinum. We have the non ISOFIX versions and always wished we had the option of these. Pity the 4+ age seats can't use it.

Limited choice in Australia for isofix due to the additional top tether that is not required in Europe only here. There is britax safe n sound "platinum" which has good reviews but is slightly wider overall than the infa secure Kompressor II (also good reviews) that I bought to occasionally carry my grand niece. What is good about these is that they can also be used by cars that do not have isofix . So no issues with swapping cars. There is also the brand maxi cosi but I would not touch them with a barge pole, already 3 models have been recalled due to safety concerns. Note these all cost between $350-$550 depending on model and if buying online or brick & mortar shop.

They all have their pluses and minuses, as well as recalls - nothing more wrong with the Maxi Cosi brand compared to the other main stream ones, pretty sure they've all had their recalls.

The worst part about the ****heads who make the rules in this backwards country is their ongoing ban of the safest seat in the market by Recaro due to weight. Yeah the one brand you can option from your dealer from the German marques.

Was keen on the tartan model they did for the GTI a while back but the SA Government confirmed they would fine me if I was pulled over with it - and were non-committal on why they deliberately wanted to endanger my child's life with their public service mindsets.

    Friday evening rant over.

There have been some Isofix seats ratified recently so have a Google and you may find out which ones.

I have two in our mk3 Octavia. K1WY brand, both group 1-2-3 seats (I.e 6 months to 8 years). They are solid, secure and above all else a breeze to take in and out. They were about $500 for both, shipped from Germany. With the Aussie dollar lower, they are about 600 aud shipped now. Highly recommend them, kids and wife love them

ok so it looks like no one really had issues with them, i take it you all just bought it with out trying them out beforehand?

i'm not too concerned about price i paid over $300 for my last one, i'm happy to pay a little premium for an ISOfix. I think i'll just wait for some sales, hopefully boxing day will throw some good deals.

I've got an isofix baby seat as well. I'll get the exact make and model of it tomorrow and report back. Love it! Seats don't move around like the seat belt through the back ones.
