NRMA were much the same as GIO. Apparently a 2 litre turbo TSI ,RS is high risk to both of them.

Be careful with anyone like NRMA, RACV, CGU etc

I got side swiped a few weeks back, the other driver was at fault but did a runner after I pulled over, I got their plates though... Took info to police who weren't interested in chasing them down just put there plates in the system if they happen to get pulled over for something else. CGU/RACV/NRMA policy is the licence plate is irrelevant, if you do not have the drivers name and address they will not investigate it for you and YOU get the at-fault claim and you are liable for your excess, as per their contract..

AAMI and Suncorp don't do this, as long as you have plates and make police report they will not make you pay excess or take at-fault claim..

Long story short out of pure luck I pulled up behind her the other day and when she stopped approached her and got her details, so out of pure LUCK it was resolved. She has been charged by police and I got my excess back.. But still changing to AAMI, it was just pure luck I pulled up behind her.. LOL

Sadly AAMI is more expensive than CGU for the Scout, the normal Octavia they are the same but AAMI consider the 4x4 scout higher risk for some crazy reason?

I called up NRMA when I got rear ended by a Subaru (which was killed, Skoda was fine except for bumper )
They told me to make a police report, then ask the coppers nicely for the drivers details from the numberplate.

I forgot to make the police report, but I reckon the $300 repair/repaint is a lot less than the $1,600 excess. And given that it happened last year some time... Hmm.

Even worse than that - my folks were with NRMA, their caravelle was sideswiped while parked and the driver did a runner - but their car was undrivable (they left it in the road infront of my folks' car) so getting their plates was easy. Police investigated, driver denied they were driving the vehicle at the time - NRMA made my folks pay the excess.

    What a joke!

Anyway, I'm with shannons... You pay the price, but the service is excellent.

in qld its a criminal offence to leave the site of a accident.
Regardless of damage to a vehicle apparently so insurance company getting details shouldnt be a problem provided they arent stolen.
