I didn't even think to look in the manual about it - when I first got the car I assumed it was a showroom display device and spent the first few weeks intermittently trying to pull it out, as it was in my peripheral vision. Then the dealer told me it was a "feature" - now I use it weekly, and it's fit for purpose....

OMFG, my wife dropped one down there on Sunday at the Zoo after waiting 20min to get to the meter, every man and his dog decided to go there on Sunday. If I had seen what she was trying to do I would have stopped her, but in normal cars there isn't room to drop them down there, rather than leave it flat on the dash she deliberately dropped it right down there, with just a corner sticking out. We had to go get another ticket and it didn't move so I meant to try and carefully fish it out with tweezers yesterday. I forgot and driving to work today the windscreen defrost came on and promptly sucked it down further.

There are no words to describe how utterly stupid that design is, the fans intakes must be down there as well, as the ticket starting fluttering the whole way home tonight driving me nuts as it got sucked further down. Its an awful angle too, pretty much impossible to see down in there from any angle without shining a torch and looking for a reflection. After trying a vacuum cleaner, and then a can of compressed air, I eventually found a helium balloon stick and walked it slowly over to the side where the gap tapers up. My wife has promised to never ever try and put a ticket down there and to always use the clip.

Yup, I thought it was a little tag the dealer fitted temporarily to hold their price sign. Me and my brother twisted it back and forth to try and remove it but had no luck. Luckily it's still in perfect condition and can now be used for it's intended purpose.

Would have preferred it a bit lower to be honest, as it is in my vision and annoys me. Suppose i'll get used to it.

Mine lasted about 6 months then broke off, was used every day though to display a parking permit.

I thought exactly the same thing until I saw a Superb with it and realised what it was

But why is it on the driver's side and not the kerb side.... where the parking inspector can see it?

Because they probably would have to make a second version for RHD and can't be stuffed doing it.

Probably because the driver, after getting the ticket from the boom gate, can park the car and put the ticket into the ticket holder.

Without having to get out of the car, in the rain, run around to the passengers seat with hands full of paperwork, open the door, put the ticket in the holder, close the door, lock the car and go to the office.

Nah, in LHD versions, it's still on the driver's side, ie left hand side. Agree with deeps on preferring it to be a bit lower, I was hoping I could slide it along the pillar...

You can shift it to the other side or buy a 2nd one & fit it on the left.

I have no idea why they fit it to the RHS - some European or UK convention?
