    HVAC control questions

A couple of things I've noticed about the heating/air-con controls in my MY11 RS and wondered if anyone has experienced similar.

I normally run the temperature setting at 22, occasionally knocking it up a notch to 23. The number in both dials (dual mode not set) respond correctly, but the screen on the nav/audio unit shows 23 on the passenger side, but still 22 on the driver's side! If I then take it to 24, both sides report 24 on screen; take it back to 23 and both sides show 23, as expected! It's clearly a minor bug in the HVAC control system, but wondered how common it may be? I'll certainly mention it to the dealer next week when I go in for my 15k service.

The other thing I've noticed is that if I switch from outside air to recirculate, the air-con switches on. This is probably standard behaviour, but was wondering if anyone knows if this can be changed via VCDS, so that the air-con is not cycled with this switch? I usually only switch to recirculate when behind a bus or a Hi-Ace van (ever notice that the petrol version of these things stink like an old kerosene heater?), so it's a bit annoying to have the air-con come on of its own accord in that situation.

i used to experience this, to a point i automatically go 2 degrees up, then 1 down, so the display shows the same temp on both sides.
going down never skipped a beat. going up always did (driver's side temp).

however, since i did the firmware upgrade (bout a week ago now) to v4024, i noticed this doesn't happen anymore - both sides increase, corrrectly, everytime now.
maybe a firmware upgrade will fix urs too.

as for the aircon coming on everytime - i got no idea, and it is plain annoying. it should only come on "if i say so dammit!!"

Mine does the same thing with the temp not changing on the drivers side. But I rarely change it, it's set at 22 the entire time. I always have the recirculate setting on - keeps the new car/leather smell, but it's annoying how everytime I get in and start the engine in it's defaulted back to off again - I wish it would remember I don't want fresh air (well, more like pollution and fumes in todays world)!

i think the recirculating vent opens when you turn off the ignition, so the car gets 'some' air inside it.

anyway, yes this happened to mine too, till the upgrade of my satnav, now its fine

Thanks all for your responses! Suspected the behaviour was probably "normal", albeit a little annoying. I think I'll have a crack at the firmware upgrade though.

    +1.
mine took less than an hour all up. i even changed the startup boot logo, to one of these.....

speaking of firmware, i find the "auto illumination" handy. it automatically adjusts the screen brightness according to the light sensitivity.
