    How much was your RS?

I'm looking at the Octavia RS to replace my current XR5 laterr this year.

I nearly bought an RS but being childless and wanting something less mature I chose the Focus. Now that Ive got a baby I'm finding the Focus lacking in space especially in the boot.

I've checked with my leasing company and it looks like there is no fleet agreement with Skoda so I would only get GST free purchase being a lease.

I'd like to know what people are paying for their RS, does Skoda do deals are they pretty rigid? I remember in early 2008 the dealer knocked about 5k off which was great deal.

I have seen the RRP but want to know how much people are knocking off that price, especially for wagon. I'd be keen on manual 2.0 TSFI wagon.

I think you can bank on getting at least 10% off the rrp as a lease company or corporate discount.

Then the add the options and onroads on top of that. They will generally slash the dealer delivery charges too.

If they are desperate, they may throw in some freebies, mats or mudflaps.

That has been my experience with Skoda and other manufacturers but I work for a company that buys over 1000 vehicles a years so they have a bit of pull in the market.

I got my standard 2.0TFSI liftback manual for the RRP ($37,490) as Skoda had no on-roads for liftbacks at the time. Had a wagon been then and there like the liftback then we would've bought it. But see what's around; the RS has such a high level of kit that I think it's amazing they charge only that (now someone will have a go at me for making a joke so I stress it was a joke) for it!

But look around; there are a number of RS' on Carsales to give you an idea of just how much you can possibly save.

My TDI manual wagon was $40k all up, on the road with tint and towbar and transfer of my plates. They also offered $20k trade for my 2007 TDI Astra hatch without even looking at it, which was what I paid for it 12 months earlier! The FL was just released at the time (Sept 09).

All up it was a great deal and it was based on having the car delivered within 2 weeks of paying the deposit, which they honoured.

I never trust my lease company to get me the best price, so I always do my own negotiating and submit a price, which they then compare against their own pricing. So far my own quotes have been cheaper each time. So I'd recommend doing your own negotiating regardless.

You can expect a reasonable discount as the dealers want to sell cars. You'll probably do better on a car in stock or a demo, but there isn't a lot of stock around so a factory order might be your only option. In which case you'll have a 4-5 month wait.

ah yes, 'the baby', always a good reason for more space! I have two of those 'babies' now and I know exactly what you're after, which is why I bought my Octavia RS about 10 months ago... it's got space, pace and handles ace! I paid $40k on road (wagon, DSG, no additional options)... I've seen some RS liftback manuals on carsales.com.au for around $35k driveaway which is outstanding, but I think they may have been MY10... still, these days I'd think you should be able to get an MY11 RS wagon with DSG for less than $40k driveaway.

I picked up my MY10 ex Tour Down Under 2010 RS for a shade under $37k about 6 months ago, which was a good 8 months after the TDU had finished. It's possible that there may be ex TDU 2011 vehicles still to come through to dealers? Some others might be able to shed some light on this.

Yes damo I never let the lease company how much to pay for a vehicle. The last four cars I have beaten them on price. Ask your dealer for a Skoda corporate discount form.I work for a large company and although the Australian branch is not in the scheme the mother company (European) is so I still got the discount. i got the octy with tint and sunroof for close enough to 40K on the road.

We got our 04/10 build, 08/10 complied VRS Wagon for just a tad over $40k. It had the Onyx Leather (which we wanted), the DSG (Which the Mrs Wanted) and the MDI which neither of us cared about.

Edit, oh, and we got a tank full of fuel too.
