I had a Gen2 Liberty RX (the 2.5 quad cam that promised so much & delivered so little). It wasn't a bad car but was incredibly gutless & drank fuel like a V8. Bought a 2.0 Golf mk3.5 Cabrio as the wife's car when she did a 12 month secondment to UTS & there was no car in the package. I couldn't believe how much gruntier the VW was, so when she went back to her old job & got another company car, i took the VW. Then went to Skoda when the VW got tired.
Wife now has a 2.5 Subaru Outback (hand-me-down from her predecessor). It appears to be the current car of choice for "packaged" State/Local Government employees. I think that speaks volumes about where Subaru are aiming at. The Outback looks very nice at first glance (alloys, sunroof, leather) but it's amazing how many features are missing (park sensors, trip computer, bluetooth, decent sound system, etc)
