All this in the context of the news that VW are looking at a new cheap brand under Seat and Skoda to compete with the Datsun brand that Nissan are reintroducing.
I would have thought the 64kw engine, for the fabia, was the 1.4L from the polo trendline.
The 1.6L engine (75/77kw) is probably the same as put in the VW Vento (aka Skoda Rapid with different clothes).
Pity they didn't stick this in the Fabia/Rapid... simple engine AND can be optioned with a boring old torque converter 6 speed auto. The punters don't really like or trust DSG.
2018 Ralyee Green RS wagon. Fully optioned.
Previous vehicles:2015 Volvo V60 Polestar (my one detour from VW/Skoda!)
2013 Platin grey RS wagon / 2012 White Polo GTI / 2009 Black 125 Tiguan
The naturally aspirated engines are most likely to be fitted with the conventional 6 speed tiptronic as in the overseas market. This will alleviate some of the concerns regarding DSG for some buyers. Those people that don't like DSG usually don't care about car performance and driving pleasure anyway. So I suspect Skoda is targeting corolla buyers.
We will not get Datsun here based on what has been said so far but who knows. Datsun is for developing markets like Russia and the 'Stan's and India.
Infinity never went away in the US it failed here first time I think they only sold a handful of cars in the 12 months or so they were around but it if they have done the proper homework this time they should be okay.
