HELP - Front Wipers not Working

this evening my front wipers stopped working today. i did the following spot checks:-
    - fuse F19 (located in the engine bay) = all good
    - bonnet seems to be closed, as per usual, hence shouldn't be preventing the wipers from working
    - front windscreen washer = all good and working
    - rear wiper = all good and working
    - rear wiper washer = all good and working

everything else "seems" ok - now i'm baffled - why could it not be working?

what else could be preventing the front wipers from working now?
    wiper motor?
wiper stalk? but it responds to rear wiper functions and front washer fluid clean.

given that the fuse box map is about as logical and accurate as reading tea leaves, I'd check the other fuses as well.

    - I thought the wipers were fuse 15 on the Right panel in the cabin? Even if it looks OK & comes up OK on the multi-meter, change it anyway. IIRC, the book says it's fuse 41 - which is wrong but check it anyway.

    - It may be the bonnet catch microswitch seized - you can unplug & bridge it with a wire or paper clip.

    - Is there a relay under the bonnet? That under bonnet relay / fuse box can suffer from water ingestion.

    - Can you disconnect the wiring harness to the wiper motor & test for power / earth?

    - Have they been going slower than normal lately? If so, seized pivots?

That's all i can think of

front wipers r definately Fuse19 (30A) in the engine bay.
Fuse41 (20A), on the drivers side dashboard panel, is for the rear window wiper.
    tis in zee owner's manual.

the wipers have been acting normal, no erratic movements or laziness.

i dropped it off at the dealers this morning.

while i was there, they said there is a recall on my car. its to do with the steering control module - a software update they say!
they are going to get that done as well.
funny skoda did not contact me to inform me of the recall. anyone else had something similar?

i'm expecting a call shortly, hopefully with good news about the wipers.

Don't trust the diagram in the manual. It's been proven wrong before.

The steering thing will be a Workshop Campaign rather than a recall. So if you use the dealer workshop you get it & if you don't then tough.

When I was at Toyota the had many Workshop Campaigns including:

-Corollas where only half the brake lights worked due to faulty wiring looms - fixed with 4x quick connects & 300mm of wire.

-Camry's that, if driven on rural / farm roads with high grass caught on fire because the heat shield chopped the grass off & packed it between the hot muffler & the heat shield. It was OK when driving but when you stopped & the muffler heat-soaked it caught fire. Fixed by hammering shut the leading edge of the heat shield.

-Corollas with a faulty nut on the crankshaft that didn't lock-on properly. The nut would loosen & cause irreparable damage to the crankshaft. The fix (if caught on time) was a new design nut & loktite. Toyota rebuilt quite a few engines for regular customers as goodwill. If you weren't a regular customer then you had to pay and they acted as if you were the first car ever to have this problem. They wouldn't have got away with it these days with social media / forums as an information source.

    Lots of others too.

Please let us know what the TSB or whatever acronym Skoda uses for its recall system and I will see if it's required on the FL models

Car drives fine at the moment though, so don't touch what's not broken I say.

Hope they fix your wipers too !

so wipers r fixed. fuse was ok. switch ok. wiring ok. control unit ok. wiper motor ok. however input plug to wiper motor inside the plenum chamber was very dirty. cleaned it up, and the wipers are working again.
thanks goodness there was no replacement parts required.
worrying though that it can get dirty to point that the wipers stop work.
at least its all good for now, $70 bucks later.

with regards to the recall, the number is 91G6. It involves a software update to the W-control unit of the steering column. turns out mine already had the up-to-date software. they recoded the recall and put the sticker on the door.

$70 for the fix is pretty fair, would have been a bit of stuffing around figuring out what was wrong

    91G6 is from 2011?

What build date is your car?
