I think they were very basic, only showing speed.

Correct. In Australia it was the last model Bluebird (the front wheel drive version after the Pintara) that had the HU display in the SSS model. I forgot that they brought the Bluebird back here for a last hurrah.

    This one (picture from Google)

here is the best display pic I could find

Didn't they make at least parts of the KA24 in Australia? If so that would be the reason they kept using it - to reduce import tariffs.

My mates mum used to drive us around in her old white Bluebird... The HUD was nice, when it worked. It was a fine car, except for one issue... The speedo wasn't working aruond 95% of the time, and nobody could fix it.

Had to work out speed by the tacho... Hah.

no idea, it was a pretty **** motor TBH. mostly for the US market with the extra capacity. but they even got less technology on some of their models with single cam.

Well, the HUD device has arrived (new gadget to play with)
It's about the size of a large smart phone but three times thicker (height)
Given it's size, dash mounting where there is limited room or a curved dash would be a problem
It's clearly from an electronics gadget company (presentation issue)

I'll have a play with it tonight and see how it goes - will post photos in next few days

(Only a few weeks ago the OBDII port was rarely used, now I have Polar FIS, e-hud and OBDII Bluetooth transmitter)

This device (hud-e) is pretty useless really - in bright sunlight you can't see it (maybe it works in the UK)
When you do see it there is a double image (I think it's the inside and outside window surfaces)

Oh well, somebody had to take one for the team

I have been looking at these, and really the main thing you want is the speed reading. The problem is that with the standard speed readout being around 5% high, it kind of defeats the purpose.

I have seen a few GPS HUD units, and for me, these would be much more valuable. In the end I stayed with my AlerteGPS unit. With my dash mat, I have stuck the hook part of Velcro under the magnet mounting and this then gets put on the dash mat at the top of the curve of the instrument cluster. It does not point at the screen but back at me. It is not affected by sunlight to any great degree and is in a similar position to the shift change indicators on cars.

Being GPS it gives me a much more accurate indication of speed that one getting incorrect information on the vehicle itself.

The unit I have is the G200 but I am not sure if it is sold now. There is another model out and it costs less than some of these HUD units.

Ryda retail them if anyone is interested.

get a square of reflective tint and stick that to the windscreen where it displays. the nissans had a square built into the windscreen for this exact reason.

with all your devices, i assume this uses the OBD port? that would mean you cant have it and the Polar FIS active at once?
