The ADR has a formula with a % value and a + fixed limit. That is the speedometer cannot read below the true speed. It must read the exact speed or higher (i.e. on the safe side as far as infringing is concerned).



Yes, the Victorian tolerance is absurd. I wish the police would also stick to the other conditions of using a Laser/Radar unit. Funny how they latch on to one thing and forget all the others.

the ADR rule is that a speedo may not read LESS than actual speed and may read over by up to 10% plus or minus 4% FAST.
The Odometer is not affected by the speedo reading and should be accurate.

My Passat is 6k fast and the Polo is 7. In contrast the Landcruiser was dead on at 100kph.

An MFD will read the same as the analogue readout.

A canbus reading via the secret menu on a RNS 510 will give the true speed.

What I would give for all info on a headsup display such as speed, revs, gear, nav directions, radio station, song name etc etc etc...

Why would u want all that. I have speed only and that's enough specially in town as I have a small piece of tint to make it easier to read and its a bit of a nuisance in traffic and up and down bits.

We are supposed to be watching where we are going not reading a book while driving LOL.

PS the tint IS legal I checked with QLD roads.

My unit is a Polaris $130 from Autobarn works off a GPS signal puts digits about 70mm high in white letters Gives adjustable overspeed warnings and the speed readout is adjustable as well Mine is the same as my Tomtom and the Canbus readout.

Well worth it but wouldn't want any more info to read.

One thing to be aware of is that because your screen is not flat or square on with you the unit has to be installed off square to read nicely.
Also this one has a screen which can be tilted and needs to be to give the brightest readout.
Because if you don't get the reflection at the right angle it wont appear correctly.

Those of you who say its to faint should try tilting it a bit so that the screen on the dash is just visible to you.
