    GPS integrated with dashboard

    Hi
Currently looking at buying either an Octivia or Passat and I am wondering if the Octivia GPS integrates with dashboard like in the VW.

    Thanks

Current model Octavia has completely integrated GPS. Just go to the Skoda web site. Mechanically they are almost identical to a Passat

Yes it's in the dash, but not as good as a dedicated GPS (like TomTom). I use both - the dash one for overall map and the TomTom up to the right in the corner, for closer turn by turn map and speed warnings.

Thanks for this, I am not talking about the actual GPS though. Whilst driving the VW Touran in Europe recently I noticed that they also display basic GPS information in the information display (not sure how to call it) next to the speedometer. So the detailed information is on the GPS screen itself but short info in the information display (like time to destination, next turn etc).

Yes it does, although it may depend on the exact model car. My 2011 Octavia vRS (fitted with Columbus, including GPS as standard) displays next turn info etc in the 'microdot' display - between the speedo and tacho. Quite a handy feature actually!

Great thanks I think it comes in all models except Ambition and Ambition Plus, which is a great shame. They should have included it at least with the Tech Pack.
Loved that feature on our road trip.

Yes it does in my RS with Columbus (RNS510) head unit.

If it is not in the maxidot display, you should at least be able to turn it on with VAGcom for anything newer than 2012
