Good price, but i very much doubt it will come pre loaded with the stage 1 tune because thats part of the DIY process you have to do once you receive the Bluefin controller.
Hi all, just thought I'd post here: I just purchased a bluefin preloaded with stage 1 tune (stage 2 will be $175 extra after it arrives, FYI) from demon tweeks in the UK.
The delivered price was $550AUD.
Very good value if anyone is looking for a tune...
For reference, my car is a 2007 Octavia VRS with the 147 tfsi petrol turbo engine.
Just thought it was worth mentioning, as it was way cheaper than my local quotes for the same hardware and software...

I'm @ the checkout and it seems legit - anyone other thought's before i order?

Lucas-
I contacted them about that, and the impression I got was that the handset is pre-loaded with the stage 1 tune, but that superchips don't offer a preloaded stage 2 unit.
Thinking about it, maybe it comes with a voucher/code that allows the stage 1 to be downloaded without any further cost...??
Either way, I chose the cheapest mail option for mine, so I'll be able to report back in a couple of weeks.
The only reason I even knew about these guys was from reading a thread on these forums where one of the users mentioned that they'd got their bluefin cheaper than local offerings via demon tweeks.
Given that all the workshops here do is download the tune from superchips anyway, I figured it was worth a punt...
*edit* forgot to mention I also get the free K&N filter. Assuming it is all legit, it is outstanding value for money in my opinion... Fingers crossed.

Have you provided demon tweeks with your VIN yet? If not then the hand unit won't come preloaded with your stage 1 tune. Not saying you won't get the stage 1 tune for that price. It just won't be preloaded. You'll plug the controller into your car, it'll copy your details from your car. You'll then upload to the super chips website and then they'll email/download your tuned file to your controller. Re plug it into your car and upload the tune to your car and BOOM. Ready to go. I actually thought the Stage 2 tune was only 50 pounds?
Not hey didn't ask for the vin. No issue: I'm happy to go through the process myself...
As far as the cost of stage 2: I emailed bluefin directly, but my reply (with the cost) came from an Australian distributor in SA. (*edit*: I just checked the email- it was from Peter James Tuning). Once again, I'm happy to pay what they're asking based on the reviews of the stage 2 tune.
It will be interesting to see the comparison stock vs. stage1 vs. stage2...
I'm still trying to source a downpipe that will fit straight on to my car- there seems to be a few conflicting pieces of info regarding whether an item made for the mkV Gti with the same (147tfsi) engine is a straight for in the car.
I was considering an aftermarket dump pipe without cat, but am open to advice. Just looking to not spend a fortune...
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

MB, let me know if you find a good cheap downpipe please as I'm looking to go Stage 2 sooner rather than later too. Although I'm guessing yours being a 2007 model and mine being a 2012 model, we're probably looking at different downpipes anyway (Golf Mk5 vs Mk 6?).
Bluefin stg1 is a great thing for the money.
I wouldn't touch their stg 2.
If you really want stg2 then I'd do it properly & go straight in with a DP and modified fuel pump and do the full stage 2+ "custom" tune.

i agree with the fact their stage 1 flash is great!
the stage 2 is good if youre only doing downpipe. any other mods and to be honest youll miss out on some torque.
if you plan on doing more than the usual breathing mods, their stage 2 probably isnt for you.
i had it, but went beyond what they could reliably supply. that said, they were prompt with replies and were happy to help me out even after the APR intake was the issue with a 2000rpm stutter. the aussie rep, Peter, is a great guy to deal with also.
Thanks for the feedback: the appeal (for me) of the stage 2 is exactly what you've posted: my Skoda is my daily driver, so the reasonably low cost of stage 2, requiring only a downpipe is ideal for my application: it's as far as I'm going to take the car- I have another vehicle for weekend shenanigans...
I'll post in this thread when I get a downpipe along with any issues it raises regarding fitment etc.
I'm definitely looking at a cheapie, given how restrictive the factory issue unit appears to be...
