Gold Coast Skoda

Have any Queensland members had dealings with Gold Coast Skoda? I'm looking at a demonstrator Superb sedan that they are advertising. The car looks nice but it's such a long way from Melbourne?

I spoke to them when I was buying my RS Wagon. I ended up buying from Brisbane Prestige for no reason other than they had a car at the right price.

Gold Coast Skoda is part of the James Frizelles Group who have Volkswagen, Audi, Mazda, Hyundai and Skoda in Southport and another VW site just across the border into NSW. I spoke to their VW people too and found them to be pretty impressive.

I would have no qualms in flying up to Gold Coast Airport (30 mins away) and getting them to pick you up.

I haven't had any dealings with Gold Coast Skoda; I too bought mine from Brisbane Prestige (being a local). However I asked them to find me a Demo RS Wagon for a certain price and they found one from Victoria - Bayford Skoda I believe. They had it delivered up by truck and I had it a few days later. I didn't see what the transport costs as that was all included in the price I paid - which I was happy with. I checked it over before picking it up and they polished it up - there hasn't been any dramas so far.

Thanks guys. Normally I wouldn't be too keen on a demonstrator, knowing how some people treat them, but this vehicle appeared to be a good buy. Unfortunately the "mileage" has gone from 700 odd km's on CarSales this morning to about 2,700. That pretty much rules it out as far as I'm concerned.

So the price will have presumably dropped further with the extra miles and obviously you will bargain for them to pay your air fare and after three or four years of ownership will a couple of thousand extra kms really make a difference to the resale value?

I'm with K1W1 on this. I've bought 3 demonstrators in the past all with about 6000k's on them and got 15-20% off the new price with some moderate (ok - hard) bargaining. The only downside is the warranty was out by 12 months on all of them, but twice I've bargained in a free extended warranty too. The great thing about cars with low K's like that is most people want new ones and won't look at them. If you don't mind it not being brand new, its a great way to skip the "drive out the door" depreciation.

You need to be careful if you're doing a trade though, make sure you do your homework as to what both cars are worth second hand.

Hi If it is still relevant. I got my RSs Wagon off GC Skoda recently and I am based in Brisbane.... No affiliations with them but GC Skoda had been great in meeting some of my demands. And I do agree with K1W1, price of the vehicle would probably be heaps lower with some hard bargaining. Easy to deal with +1 for me.

Side note: From experience, most dealers do have more vehicles than its actually listed on carsales. Unless you want to call every single one and ask, Wes Bond from Trivett (closer for you in NSW) might be able to assist too. He had been very helpful in my search for the right vehicle. (Even ringing and/or answering my calls on his OFF DAY!!). In the end, only reason I went with GC was that they had a vehicle in stock with specs closer to what I wanted at short notice. It's not how many k's it's done per se but rather how the car's been treated. I know some people who've scratched their duco or scrubbed their wheels within a week of taking delivery of their new "pride and joy". I mean some people just haven't got a clue about looking after things. So, I'll admit it, l want a car that's as new but at a discount price. Unrealistic, unreasonable.....guilt as charged.
