Getting hold of a 90tsi wagon

    Hey guys,

Can you tell me how much depth of stock Skoda Australia have, and what chances I'd have at getting hold of a less than 'listed' price 90Tsi manual wagon?

I'd prefer ex Demo because that is how close to max budget we are. Never having bought new or near new before, I'm not sure how much margin and play I'd have from dealers, especially on the entry level models..

I'm Sydney based, so if anyone has any good / bad experiences with dealers, I'd appreciate any pointers (PM if it's better)

I'm pretty excited about the Skoda brand and hope things will work out, if not, it may be a Hyundai i30CW tdci manual.

    Cheers David

    Try Wes at TRIVETTS

He was great with my purchase and after sales care.
Have a look at the Website to see what they have in stock - but if you dont see one i still recommend contacting Wes as he may be able to source one.

Skoda stock in Australia = zero. What you can see at a dealership is what there is.
Skoda dealers deal. Get on the Internet (you already are I guess) and get a list of dealer email addresses from areas that you are prepared to travel to and pick up your vehicle then send the same email to each one listing what you want and asking for what they have IN STOCK that is close and what price they will do. If you have a trade in tell them and be honest about it's condition and what you expect.
Once you get answers get on the phone and start dealing in earnest.

    What kiwi said.....

plus, when I was buying they all started out as if there was no wiggle room & acted like they were selling Rolls Royce. You have to be firm but not emotionally attached. It would pay to tell them that your other choice is Hyundai & there are plenty to choose from.

edit: the two dealers I dealt with have since handed back their franchise. I haven't dealt with any others.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll speak to them all and see what is around.

    +1 for Wes at Trivetts.

If they have what you want, definitely go through them. Like SKODA vRS147 said, purchase and after sales was great.

I went to North Shore Skoda at St Leonards and dealt with Frank and Angelo. Unlike my visits to VW dealerships (especially Mascot), I wasnt invisible. I highly recommend Frank and Angelo. Frank called me regularly throughout the week telling me when they installed the parking sensors, when the car arrived etc.

Anyway, I got my 1.8TSI DSG Octavia Wagon in 5 days since it was the only one that was brand new (not in showroom) MY11. It was in the colour I wanted and had everything I needed (brilliant silver). As part of the deal, threw in parking sensors and roof racks.

I have had it for 4 weeks now and I absolutely love the car having only owned Honda and Mitsubishi in the past. The indicator sitting on the left side took a day to get use to! Wipers kept on going off when I thought I was indicating.

Wait for the end of the month, when salesmen are desperate to meet their targets and sales bonuses. They will try just that little bit harder to make a sale.

    +1

I dealt with Angelo. My Scout was due in late Dec 2010, but arrived late Jan 2011. North Shore Skoda kept me informed and also threw in gift for the delay. Great service and very happy with my purchase.
