Floor Mats

All the RS's to this date as far as I am aware all came with floor mats. The models below not necessarily. The only odd was the the cargo net didn't come with the hatchback RS but some of the models below it did, and it didn't always come with the RS wagon.

We still have the original mats with the holes and pegs on both sides and they are fine. From memory the drivers mat has a section where your heels go, unless I'm getting mixed up between cars.

Agree Woofy, my RS factory mats are almost as good as new after 3 years. I'm a fat guy, and mostly wear boots or chunky sneakers and I don't think they've performed any worse than any other mat I've ever had. They could do better with the factory lining though, its a bitch to vacuum cat hair or grass seeds off.

In fact, the only noticeable thing that has worn for me is the driver side plastic pillar where I slide in and out (jeans and belt have scratched it up a bit), the car interior other than that looks and feels brand new.

That pillar scratches if you look at it wrong. I was very careful, but being 6ft I have the seat back past it and one of my jackets scratched it getting in. Now it's my wifes car and its scratched all over just from normal clothes.

I may have also looked at it wrong a few times too. Its hard to tell what scratches are what.

Got my mats in the mail from matcraft. Very happy! Love the Octavia lettering stitched in to the front mats. Pegs fit perfectly as well!

If anyone still checks this thread... I wonder if I should protect the new car paint work with any polish product or something similar? Having never had a new car not sure if this is necessary or not? Sometimes the car will be parked outside the garage and its a prime target for birds being black and shiny!!

Contact car care products either through their website or they are a sponsor on here, they will recommend what wax or sealant is best for your paint, highly recommend them, very helpful. Also while your at it watch their videos on safe washing practices etc to avoid those swirl marks!

Definitely worth doing if you want the car to stay looking nice and new. My car is 2.5yrs old and when parking near the beach the other day a passer by commented that the car looked brand new. (which it does)

Polish = No

Wax or Sealant = yes

Also learn to wash your car properly - 90% of people don't.

Look in the bodywork/trim detailing section of this forum for info - esp from car care products.

The initial outlay is a bit daunting but good stuff lasts much longer than cheap crap.

If I had to shop tomorrow:

Wax - So many to choose from but I like Poorboys. CCP can offer advice.
microfibre wax removal cloth
applicator pads or just do it straight from hand to vehicle with no cloth.

2 buckets
microfibre wash mit
cheap sponge for wheels
Duragloss car wash
Large waffle weave drying cloth

If you aren't interested in DIY then pay somebody like CCP or Final Inspection to do your car with a long lasting sealant.
