So from 2.5 to 3.8yrs, assuming 3,300km/month. That's... Eh. I'll see how it goes during the first 2.5yrs.
I've done 3,000km since wed 17th. Perhaps the 100,000 might come sooner than expected...
In my case it adds two years but remains unlimited km.. But on 100,000 km original warranties they can vary, normally I have seem them going to 150,000 give or take 10,000

From Choice, "Be wary of buying extended warranties; they may sound great in the showroom, but the devil is in the detail. Car dealers can get huge commissions of more than 50% of your premium for selling them – we even found one with a 67% commission."
lucky mine was free, so if I don't use it, it cost me nothing
I think a few of you misunderstood what I meant. SKoda and AFAIK VAG in Australia only have 1 yr factory warranty, the extra 2 yrs bringing it out to 3 yrs is actually covered by VAG australia. Other companies like Mazda really do have a 3 yr factory warranty. Because of that we get reamed for anything further and they offload it to Allianz whereas other companies haven't already taken a hit. It's swings and roundabouts, but nontheless, it's crap.
Also probably why we haven't seen the extended warranty on the DSG gearboxes as VAG locally will know very well what it will cost them.

I got a letter from skoda aust saying that my warranty was extended from 3 years to 5 years also mentioning factory warranty.
as mentioned, who cares who covers it as long as its covered and and repairs are carried out using genuine parts
Well I called preston motors epping, for the scout premium they quoted $2660 for an extra 2 years.. insane pricing.. won't bother at that price level....
It wasn't uncommon for European marques to only offer a 1 year warranty in Europe - that is, until new legislation introduced by the European parliament in 2002 forced them to increase that to 2 years!
(Is that saying something about their quality?)
Anyway, seeing how the EU has no juristiction here, it is entirely plausible that VW Australia picks up the tab for the 3rd year and possibly even the 2nd year (the 4th and 5th year would be covered by a third-party insurer, e.g. Allianz).
But in the face of 3 and 5 year warranties offered by the Japanese and Korean marques, it would be a brave European manufacturer/dealer to play chicken with the consumer during the first 3 years of new ownership - especially in the Australian market where 3 year warranties have been the norm for ages, due to the penetration of Japanese marques here.
