The Briskoda site has a lot of discussion on my16, the first to arrive in the UK will be late this week early next week. Note that what is offered from one country to the next can vary greatly. This includes trim, engine choices, tech features. The only thing that seems slightly certain is an upgrade to the information/entertainment systems to generation 2. Engine change to euro6 with start/stop. Anything else is a mystery

Had a look at the Skoda app and looks like my data has been updated. Now showing 5 years warranty, so all good.
Still don't know why the Km is still 150,000 and not unlimited though.

Hi the Skoda Australia web site clearly states the 2 year extended warranty (5 years in total) is for unlimited km. More importantly is what is in your contract, if it is like mine it says " Extended warranty - 2 years/Unlimited Kms". The app is probably reflecting as others have noted the standard conditions for the EU. The app results cannot override what is in your contract. Ours is a very small fraction of all the Skodas sold worldwide thus it is probably too much effort to add our generous conditions to the app, can you imagine the chaos in the EU forums if the app showed unlimited kms in the markets where it is actually capped.

I bought mine second hand from the dealer (18 months old), so was not able to offer a Skoda Extended Warranty. Instead they offered the Swann 5-star extended warranty, which gives me another 4 years (5 1/2 years in total).

Stop buying extended warranty and worrying about 'contracts' that limit warranty.

    1. Under Australian consumer law, there is no minimum or maximum time for warranty, it rests on the type of good and what is a reasonable time a good should last. For example, given that a car is replaced every 6-7 years, it is reasonable for a consumer to expect that car to be free of manufacturing defects for 6-7 years.
    2. A seller is obligated to fix faults regardless of time.
    3. If they refuse, simply lodge a case in the small claims court making the point in 1. and 2., you are pretty much certain to get a judgement in favour. this only costs $100ish

If you read the many judgements from small claims, they have always ruled in favour of the consumer.

for example, a case where a flat screen TV died in the 3rd year, the warranty was for 2 years, the court made the case that a TV should last 6-7 years since that is the average time people replace them, and as such, the seller had to either replace, repair or refund 4/7 of the price paid (as the buyer only got 3 years of use from what should have beeen 7).

hence when buying new goods, i never buy warranty, you are already protected from faults under consumer law.

consumer law agencies have already said many times, extended warranty is a waste of money, and that limits to warranty is not fool proof, cosnumer law always overrides attempts to limit warranty.

The Coffee Man is correct, Ext Warranty is just a little kicker for your dealer! The ACL has got you covered for 'reasonable use'. You won't have to go small claims either. A letter of demand from a solicitor will usually get the result. All limited warranties are horse Sh$t un Australia.

you've paid for the convenience of not having to visit solicitors or small claims court. There are also some items in your extra warranty that wouldn't be considered under statutory warranty or the value is too low to bother arguing.

Would you go to all that trouble if your N75 valve died? It's a $90 part with 1.5hrs labour.

I got the PCV replaced well out of warranty, but I still get the car serviced at the dealer and I was one of their first customers when they were the smaller underdog dealer (the big original closed down and they became the huge dealer). I also have faulty seat heater for the drivers seat that stopped working the same time, but they are unlikely to replace that one for me. I normally have got it with cars under promos, but Skoda seem hell bent on only including it with finance deals. In fact they pretty much only do finance promos now. If you got the new Care pack, you get 3 services including the brake fluid and pollen filter, so its better value for $2k. There wasn't an extended warranty when I got our last one, but am planning to get it next time. It's more to do with perceived quality than ownership time. Skoda market themselves here as more premium than in the UK so you would expect they would cover things for 5yrs. I've been waiting for them just to do that full stop, but guess they won't while VW here doesn't.

You will also find after it has expired, that dealers will apply that logic mentioned above and will go shares in the cost to replace it. ie sometimes they cover parts if you need labour.

Yeah, that is true. I guess it's all for the peace of mind and convenience, also considering taking a few days off from work to see the solicitor and/or going to court are not cheap either(annual leaves + Solicitor consulting fees).
