Engine oil cooler

Car is 2011 Octavia Vrs diesel manual liftback with 83,000kms under the belt and no extended warranty.
I had the radiator expansion tank level light come on recently and on inspection found what looked like oil in the expansion tank and no coolant. My dealer is the Shepparton VW dealer who is a service agent for Skoda and they have done all the services after the purchasing dealer did the first one.

Anyway off to them it goes on a tilt tray and the diagnosis is that the engine oil cooler has gone and it will be $1600 to fix things. I requested that they approach Skoda for some goodwill and the result being that my car is back on the road with me paying just $271 and Skoda the remainder.
All in all not a bad result I thought.
