    Drive comparison: diesel wagons

As picked up my Jake02 (Bye Bye Roomster), Drive has done a comparison of diesel wagons in today's paper.

The four they chose to compare? Hyundai i30CW, Peugot 308 Touring Wagon, new Golf Wagon and... Skoda Roomster!

Why did they choose the Roomster instead of the Octavia wagon? My (slightly paranoid) view was the choice ensured the Golf came out on top. Heaven help if their Car of the Year (in liftback form) get's pipped by something with the same mechanicals and offerring better value for money.

BTW, I passed the dealer today knowing that my car was sitting in there, waiting to be picked up next week, and didn't even stop to have a look. I figure I don't want to see it if I can't drive it away.

Yeah I thought the same. The Octavia should have been in for comparison not a car that is not being sold here anymore. Usual crap journalist. How hard can it be to do a proper story? I suspect it was mostly written/organised before they found out about the Roomster not being sold anymore.

Ultimately it goes back to Skoda Australia. If they knew that they were going to pull the Roomster why did they supply one for the review? The jurnos only write about the cars they are supplied by the manufacturers/

I think it's because Octavias are classed as mid-size, rather than compact wagons. If you look at the Mazda6 review in the next few pages (I'm not sure what the layout is in Melbs newspapers) you'll see that the Octavis is classed as a rival for the 6.
