    Downpipe for 2008 VRS TFSI

    Hi All,

Thinking about getting a tune in the next few months and wondering what downpipes will fit on the Occy.

Will a Mk5 GTI fit or is there some differences that cause issues?
I would be fitting it myself so would prefer that it bolts up to my existing exhaust rather than go to an exhaust shop.

Thanks for your help in advance.

the GTi ones will bolt on, however you'll need to have it cut shorter to suit the Octavia.

Unless you get one for an Octavia, then it will fit

generally they are TFSI and TSI compatible (identifiable by 2 elongated holes in the flange), however, there is a higher chance that its only suitable for TFSI, which is good for you.

You are right in thinking that a Mk5 specific downpipe is the best solution for your Octy - given they both have the same 2.0TFSI engine. But the Octy uses a shorter downpipe than the Mk5 GTI, therefore you will need to have a section of your new down pipe cut off and re-welded to fit your car. The Scirocco's are the same (needing to have a section cut off).

I have an SPM downpipe (purchased throught DubAddiction) and their quality and fitment is excellent.

    So to state the obvious:
Unless I get a specific Occy exhaust I will have to get a exhaust shop to shorten the downpipe and fit it for me?

Depends where you have to shorten it, how the pipes join together & the diameter of the new DP.

I just had a look underneath mine & the joiner appears to be a sleeve with 2 clamps. The pipes are ~60mm either side (118tsi). So it depends what size DP you get & how they have designed it. Some of the 3"(75mm) units come with a 75/60 reducer that just clamps on to the pipe. You can probably just cut the excess off the DP with a hacksaw.

You can see what I mean with this APR pipe

A Jetta specific DP might work too - Jetta & Octy seem pretty close on these things - not many Jetta ones out there though.

    +1

the one fitted in mine is designed for a mk5 jetta - it was a perfect fit. i.e. no cutting or shortening required.
the unfortunate thing was i had to wait for it to be shipped here from the united states.

Was yours a APR pipe? I love the idea of not being without a car, have you got a link for yours?

What year model or Mk number Jetta is the best match for the 2008 VRS TFSI?

I think I will have to do it in 2 parts downpipe and then the rest. With 5 other mouths to feed it gets a bit hard justifying the whole lot in one go.

JR I think we should definitely meet up for a beer and chin wag one day.
