    Discovery Pro Map Update

Has anyone been able to update their maps ?
Our car has 2013 ROW maps. The dealer at first service indicated to wifey no map updates available - a rather convenient answer i thought.
Not to mention the embarressing pronunciation but the maps are way out of date in newer areas of Sydney e.g Gregory Hills.
I've seen reference to using the South America website to painfully download massive file updates but has anyone able to achieve this on a Skoda Discovery pro setup

Mine was delivered in June last year and came with 2014 maps. It's in for a service in a couple of weeks and I'm going to ask about the 2015 maps.

Well that doesn't reflect very well on Peter Warren if 2014 maps are available. In fact as i recall we were promised updated maps when the bought the car as a demonstrator. Skoda said at the time they would sort it out at first service. i may try them again as coming up empty . Love the car but GPS maps situation is amateur hour.

Welcome to any car makers NAV systems, all are horribly out of date. Sensis is usually out of date enough as it is. I think VW are doing Carplay in the near future which might mean the apps on phones can replace most of this in the future as the TomTom/Apple/Google Maps are updated pretty often.

Having a long history in dealerships, Nav map updates are always an issue. As has been said, updates are only available once Sensis has released a map update and then modified it to work on the VW/Skoda systems.

The days of free map updates are over though, Most systems out now use an SD card system with requires a purchase of the maps. The 'free update by using a common dvd' by dealers is actually a breach of Sensis copyright and some dealers have been penalised for doing this.

Well the costs of getting the map data has dropped drastically but the dealers still pretend it hasn't. Plenty of car companies offer it as complimentary if you get your car serviced there. I know Hyundai and Kia do it as well as offer premium road side assistance if you continue to use the dealer servicing. No reason why others can't.

I guess it would have to do with the licence that VGA have with Sensis.

I was at a sports ground last week and was told by Nav to rejoin the road as where I was driving was uncharted.

The TomTom app and AppleMaps and Google maps all told me where my cousin lived in a newer estate in Townsville didn't exist and the road ended several hundred metres before it really did. The house is 5 yrs old and the area pretty established. Tomtom literally told me to park the car and walk down the street from his house. Our maps are so badly out of date at times it's not funny, that was with the latest sensis map. There is still a road near the Townsville airport I reported as wrong 8yrs back that it thinks you can drive through....the RAAF base is there, you cannot drive through it and I suspect since at least WWII have not been able to.
