Last time I took my car in for service I arrived back after they had finished the work and before they had washed it. Having the dealer wash the car doesn't worry me because I know why they do it so I said I'll go now. They wouldn't let me and insisted that I wait because they didn't want a dirty car leaving their premises.

Fair enough...you must had bad experience with him. Can't say much about this, but as I said earlier in this post, it is sad that there is only one Skoda dealership in Canberra.

If you guys want to drive down to Moss Vale for the day for a service, I can't recommend Allan Mackay Auto's enough.

Phil, the sales bloke, is a great guy.
Everyone in the service department is simply fantastic.
My 15,000k service was roughly $360 there, but that includes the free wash and they actually do a really good job. I can't recall how much the 30,000k was... But I'll let you guys know about the 45.
Its booked for the 20th. Car has 46.4k on it now.

    Dealer Servicing = Disappointing

Called into South Yarra Volkswagen today as my oil light came on, explained it and within 10 mins service guys put new oil in and sent me on my way....no charge....

Never been there before, didn't purchase car there....not even close for servicing but based on this experience wanted to share with others who might be local.

    Cheers,
    Andrew

Took mine back to Trivett Alexandria on Tuesday for its 30k service. Customer service was just as pleasing as the last time I was there, and the bill $572.

But I'm saving $100 per tyre by going to Jax to replace the rears, rather than getting them form the dealer...

Sounds like they should really be called the random department for all the things they choose or don't choose to do. Its not pleasant experience when you're trusting them too look after your car. My roof box came in 2 weeks after I picked up my Yeti from Richmond Skoda. Rather than just give me the box and send me on my way they got me to drop off the car so they could fit it. No problem with me because it saved me a days city parking fee but when I returned not only had they fitted it but they had washed the car and given the tyres a shine. Another time I'd noticed a noise from the engine bay. When I called they asked me to come straight in and had a tech go for a drive with me. Very happy with my dealings at Richmond.

I have no idea why anybody who loves their car would want the dealership to wash it.

When I bought my car they gave me a card that entitled me to a free wash every week for the warranty period (3 years). The dealership was on my way home so I thought this was a pretty sweet deal. In short, I used the service twice because the final result was lousy.

OTOH, if you are like my wife & would rather have your car look like an elephant pooped on it than spend an hour washing it then dealer washes are worthwhile.

Join the club mine wouldn't even spend 5 minutes driving through a car wash, 2 years and her car has only been washed once (which was me when I was driving it for a day)..
