Thats a good point. I would be interested to know if the wipers went straight along with the "key on" or if they moved when the car was actually moved.

Not unless the wiper stalk was in intermittent/auto/position 1.

As I understand it, you need to take the wiper stalk out of off/home/position 0 for the wipers to sweep, even if fitted with a rain sensor.

Not unless the wiper stalk was in any other position than off/home/position 0.

The owner's manual makes it quite clear in what happens if you drive off (i.e. speed greater than 4 km/h) while the wipers are in the service position.

It's stupid, but that's how the function has been programmed, and so you shall obide by its principles.

Actually, it wouldn't surprise me it was a requirement of a European directive/statue/law.

I've found that the wipers move from the service position after you've travelled either 50m in a forwards direction, or over 5km/h in a forwards direction.

If there is water on the automatic wiper sensor when you turn the ignition on, it will not trigger the sensor.
You need to switch the wiper stalk back to 0 (Off) from A (Auto), and then back to A (Auto).
Then the automatic wipers will be reset and remain activated until you next turn the ignition on with water already on the windscreen.

Sorry, yet another brain-fart on my account. I was thinking of the rain sensor activated windows.

BTW: My youngest child reports that the anti-crush setting when puting the windows up works really well. LOL

Acording to my drivers window sunlight is at a risk of being crushed, so that the auto up function rarely works during the day. Never a problem at night, or with the other windows ....

They went kamikaze when I hit around 4km/h. Engine-on doesn't cancel sevice mode.

That malkes it sound like I went for a drive with my wipers up haha. I literally moved the car a couple of metres...

I bravely decided to test it on a closed fist.
    Works amazingly. No crushing whatsoever.

Just remember to reset that feature every time you disconnect or replace the battery or it will not work. The instructions how to do it should be in the good old trusted owner's manual.

I've found that the window auto up on my car occasionally doesn't work either, but I can't really correlate it with daylight or anything else. I do seem to recall though, that it affected the driver's and nearside rear window (simply because these are the ones I usually open).
