well after filling up the tank, from empty to full, and after two quick spins, the engine light is gone!
will keep an eye out to see if it appears again.
    heard it can be intermittent.

brad - i have the tsi, not tfsi.

spotted this in the skoda workshop manual regarding the n80 - more details here.

Had something similar happen on my Tiguan. OK to drive but cost about $1000 to fix as needed to replace the whole intake manifold as the position sensor is an integral part....

so I unprofessionally "touched" a few bits and pieces on the intake manifold, cleared the fault (using torque pro), and so far so good.
    the fault hasn't reappeared.

will keep an eye on it.

thousand bucks to fix - yikes!!! I hope I don't have to get to that stage!!

So unfortunately I'm going to bite the bullet and get the intake manifold replaced.
while that's happening, have the injectors replaced.

Turns out the flap in the intake manifold is operating between 10 and 90%, open vs close state, instead of the usual 0 - 100%.

It's not causing any more damage, so there is no urgent need to fix.

Instead of costing me $1100 + labor, it will cost me $400 + labor.
Getting genuine replacement parts from ECS Tuning.
Getting the parts from the stealers is ridiculous.

If I'm lucky, the parts arrive from the US soon and I have it fixed before Xmas.

That's quite a difference between stealer vs overseas pricing just for the parts unfortunately... Glad you worked out the issue and fix for it.
