Sorry to hear that, glad I didn't get those ones then. My ~$200 ECS tuning ones (that look very similar) can be easily triggered from any part of the paddle and feel completely solid, as if they were OEM.

So as it turns out, I hadn't installed the extensions properly - hence the flex & no response at the tips.
When I first put them on, I did it "top - down".
After some "observations", I removed them and re-installed them, this time "bottom - up".
This ensured a proper contact at the base of the paddle, so now I can trigger the gear change at the tips of the paddle extensions

It's not a solid "click", but we have contact.
Looks good now & does the job.

    Glad you got it sorted

I reckon detaching my extensions will be harder than installing them given how good that 3M stuff is

i got the Stage 1 APR Tune.

i initially was going to get the APR RSC 3" Performance Exhaust System (similar to this, but for the octavia - FE100021), but as it turns out, i need to have a stage 1 ecu tune before i can get that. it has to do with the octavia having 2 cats. going to the apr full exhaust means only 1 cat, and if i stayed on the stock tune, it would throw ECL errors.

a stage 1 ecu was next on my list anyway - so after hearing this, i decided to go for the ecu tune now, and get the exhaust later.

work was done at Canberra VW Centre in Belconnen. did it while the car was in for its 45k service.

i haven't driven much since the tune, but the nice short stint i had was a pleasure. its a lot stronger between gears, and feels smoother.
    haven't broken traction yet - i haven't really tried/pushed it yet.

Good to hear with the tune. Did you just get the tune (i.e. did you get the intake?) and did they say anything about warranty. Keen but this is the only thing stopping me.

Also, any tips on how to remove the storage compartment on the dash?
