hehe, yeah I had her out and about now and then scaring the locals .. me and the fam had an awesome weekend at the bush capital, was good to be back and see all the change that's happened in the last 5-6 years.

here's an iphone pic I took of ma lady at yarralumla on Sat arvo (thanks Dave for the upload):

I had a good read of UK rob.e's Octy blog and saw this review quote below .. I tend to agree. And with the KW's and tune to boot this little stealth vRS+ from Oz is one absolute wonder to drive out on the open road - she just eats it up

Feature is on "Q" cars so has the Skoda up against 550i BMW, Audi S4, Insignia Vxr and Jag XJ Supersport.

"The vRS must be one of the most popular pursuit cars and, driving it quickly, you can understand why ..

..despite being a large five-seater with a vast boot, the vRS weighs just 1360kg as a hatch (15kg more in estate form). It’s a true featherweight compared to the others in this test and, working in conjunction with that 206lb ft of torque and well-chosen gearing it leaves the Octavia vRS feeling very sprightly indeed. Some cars just feel effortlessly fast, in a way that even expert analysis of their vitals will never fully explain, and the vRS is one of those."

    Hey Todd

I love the look of your car - very nicely done.

What's the ride like on the V3's at that height? My weitecs are just about ok at -35mm but ideally i'd like something a little more compliant or at least with some adjustability.

Loving the rays too - did you notice much difference in the feel of the car with the lighter rims on? I've been looking at neuspeed Rse07's which are similar design, not quite as light but pretty close, but a lot cheaper.

    cheers
    Rob

Rob!! Thanks mate - welcome to Oz! I had a read of your blog over the xmas break and it's awesome btw .. big fan here

Just curious, how easy/difficult were your GTI side skirts to install? I'm thinking about ordering some, however I might have to get them painted for a little bit of contrast.

The ride on the V3's is just brilliant compared to stock (the damping is excellent - you really get to feel the road, but the annoying repetitive bumps get ironed out nicely). It's a good point you make about the height and subsequent spring compression and I'm going to ask my revo tech if I'd possibly see much difference at 5mm higher.

Ahh the Rays .. I'm still loving them to bits. The steering is very responsive and agile (much more so than our Golf R with heavy stock 19" wheels), but I probably didn't drive on the neptunes quite long enough to do a serious comparison.

I actually haven't seen the neuspeed's before .. they wouldn't look too bad at all on your beastie though.

Wish I could jump in my Octy and just drive off to France like you've been able to, oh how that would be fun, hehe. Sadly my missus and I will have to put up with two under 6yo for 24 hours in a flying metal tube, but at least I'll get to drive a Renault Megane Sport 2.0 diesel when we get there in August.

Looking forward to chatting with you more Rob, thanks for calling in to watercooled.

    Hey Todd

Glad to hear you like the blog

GTi skirts are just bonded - no screws, so pretty easy to do and reversible. You just need some suitable flexible adhesive, measure and mark out the sill so you get them in the right place, then use lots of tape to hold them in position until the glue goes off. The profile of the skirt where it's visible is perfect for the octy sill so it looks completely OE, but the tabs that go under the car don't match up with the pan exactly like they do on the golf so i trimmed off a small amount of the plastic before they went on.. but there is still plenty of contact for the adhesive to hold. Mine have been on now for more than 6 months with no problem - heat, snow etc.. and they're fine. I looked at the superskoda "RS+" skirts also but preferred the mk6 golf items on looks. I think they'd look great on yours too, and will work well with your front splitter.

Neuspeeds look great in that pic..thanks for that! i really am tempted but i wont be doing anything right now as we're right in the middle of our winter.. maybe once the weather improves and i'm off my winter tyres.. ? Just out of interest, what offset are your rays?

    cheers
    Rob

I'm gonna go as far to say that this is the best wagon I've seen in the metal.
Sorry Todd, I tried for so long not to get all gushy over it as well.

Rob the G2's are et50, so not much difference from the stock et51. They're half an inch wider than stock however.
