after many months scouring the classifieds looking for liberty turbo wagons, and researching the not so good information on them in various forums with reliability and fuel consumption major concerns I came across this octy in a wagon search on carsales. bit of quick research found a car with alot of potential, good reliability, awesome economy and easy to mod with alot of cross model/brand intergration, sweet.
Major hurdle was the fact that the car was in geelong and I was in sydney. got a comprehensive vehicle inspection done and a few days later me and my bro where on a plane to melbourne. Seller wasnt a car guy as the wheels were pretty marked and the paint needed alot of work. First drive of my new car was also my first drive of a front drive car. big change, and Im still adjusting but torque is awesome, and got nearly 800km on the first tank of gas on the way home woop woop
carsales piccy
a few things needed fixing, spent a few weeks polishing the paint every wash to get various swirls, scratches, getting the polish out of the rubbers etc. the ciggy lighter had had a cup of something spilled down it, so I got a new one from a bora off ebay (one for the boot with a cover) and some key badges- sorted, no spillage problems ever again. also fitted a superskoda shifter/boot, headlight eyebrows. made a new spare wheel cover out of marine ply, and other stuff I cant remember right now
after months of searching a much indecision ordered some wheels from klutch republik in the states. was all set for lambo replica until I saw these, also tried fitting my dads a5 wheels with no success (et32 too muuuch poke) .

when they arrived, they were the wrong colour aaarrrrgghhh! took about a month to sort wat to do and in the end got them powdercoated here and klutch covered the cost. painter talked me into metalic charcoal. Klutch were pretty cool to deal with and have assured me they have put systems in place to avoid a repeat!! was waiting til the car was lowered to fit them anyway. I dont like mags on std height cars!
lent up against the front wheel
ATTENTION fellow octy owners, if you havent pulled your pollen filter or your inner front guards DO IT!
next mod was to plasty dip the chrome grill and fit some h n r 50mm lowered springs (274 landed from orange speed in germany- awesome!)
not long after, unplanned mod, rear ended someone, crap!! totally my fault, but a combination of circumstances that could happen to anyone. biggest bummer was the 2 month delay waiting for parts from germany. i was going to fit the wheels two days after the acco = major booo!
started scouring the classifieds here for parts, and I have scored well
front brake set. dba drilled n slotted rotors, hawk ceramic no dust pads, calipers, braided lines 5000km off a gti $300
adjustable h n r rear sway bar $150 inc fitting!!
3" dump pipe and hi flow cat (not fitted yet) $450
calipers needed much scrubbing to get them clean enough....
to paint the red was faded and would stand out way to much with my new wheels, highlighting some pretty damn ugly oem calipers!!! as a side note, have my original calipers if anyone wants to do the same $100
fitted the brakes myself. bleeding wasnt too bad with a one man bleed kit, though i thought it was a great idea to bleed the clutch while I was at it, 3 hours latter I finally had the clutch pedal off the firewall, major headache!
before
after- also painted the rear calipers and rotors to match the front (was advised by a VW specialist not to remove the rear calipers to paint em, so used a shed load of painters tape came up great.
finally parts came in and the car was fixed yeeaahhh. got the grill colour coded and about 8 dents pulled

have also fitted a k n n filter and a bsh pcv kit. will be a while before i can afford the remap fitting the dump pipe will require. i am also planning on fitting some super pro alloy control arms. just missed a set on here for $300 inc fitting= bugger. well I kinda bought the dump first then the same seller told me he had the arms, but i was pretty maxed out at the time, and thought about it too long. they were sold in the meantime
also have an ultimate belt kit to fit from ecs, as well as a upgraded dump valve, and cam follower for the fuel pump. oh and the old man sprang for some black and silver premium plates for my bday, will b picking those up sat

Love it mate. I recently bought a pre-FL VRS too. Will keep checking out your progress here.
2010 Skoda Octavia vRS Wagon
Looks great!
Your engine is the chain drive isn't it?
Great buy on the brakes but you have value-added nicely
Are the wheels particularly lightweight?

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
The preFL is a belt driven. 7yrs or 105km is the magic changing point, although part of me wonders whether the water pump will make it that far.
Ultimate kit comes with EVERYTHING you need, inc water pump. Yes cam belt, same motor as mkv gti, golf r, s3 and scorrio thingmo. Wheels are an inch wider than stock and are about the same I think, they are about 12kg each, just have to weigh the stockies to compare
i love those wheels man, where'd you get them? i wonder if Klutch have other designs i may be interested in... google time
I'll be sure keep an eye out for your car if you're ever around the hills area.

I am a bit interested in getting the same springs you bought, but any Google search for Orange Speed in Germany brings up nix.
All I get is links about those crappy "Orange" series VW's that went around a few years ago!
Do you have a link or web address?
