Lucky it's only the glass! Shouldn't be too hard to get at surely? There are some screws underneath the housing I think - I'm sure there would be some info on briskoda.net?
Did she hit a big bug in reverse? lol
Somehow missus managed to crack the driver’s side mirror (wing mirror), and it needs to be replaced!!
Despite the cover coming off slightly, it seems to have clicked back in place.
Thankfully, it still operates correctly – up, down, inside & outside.
It also still manually folds in and out.
However with the mirror being cracked, it looks like the heating & auto-dimming function ain’t working now.
The actual housing is still in shape, not cracked, nor chipped....thankfully!!
Going to check with the dealer how much a replacement mirror will cost.
The part no. is 4F0857536AF.
hopefully its not to difficult to replace

MY10 Occy vRS \\ GIAC Flash Tune \\ 19" VMR v713 \\ It's a Skoda. Honest.
i was actually in the passenger's seat when it happened. i needed counseling after it happened!! lol
wifey was reversing car out of our garage. our driveway has a curved shape, so we need to turn as we reverse out. on this occasion, unfortunately, she thought she cleared the wing mirror from the wall - as u can c above, unsuccessfully. the wing mirror indicator sticks out a bit more, and being out of sight (from the driver's seat), is actually what clipped the wall.
she was moving very very very slowly, we saw the wing mirror touch the wall and start to fold backwards. by the time i screamed and she applied the brakes, it was all over. the wing mirror in the process of folding backwards, physically tilted the car up (driver's side), because there was no room to move, and crack!!
i have no idea, nor can i believe that the entire wing mirror housing did not crack or buckle under that strain (pushing the car)!!
obviously the mirror didn't fare too well. but as u can c above, the rest is fine.....atleast from the outside!
apart from the mirror itself, the only visible sign off trauma can b found on the the edge of the indicator - a tiny scruff mark where it met the wall.

Huh, the one tough car the Skoda is.
I would expect the housing to break.

I replaced the left mirror glass on my Golf R almost immediately after purchasing it. I replaced it with an European VAG Aspherical Mirror Glass for US$70 from ECS.
I checked on your part number and it also comes up on ECS for US$85.37. I'd imagine it'll be a bit more in Australia, but should end up being cheaper here because of expensive shipping from ECS
There are no screws. It's just a case of pulling the mirror off with your fingers/a rubberised flat tool which won't damage the paint on the mirror housing. I was able to do it with my fingers by adjusting the mirror one way so that there was enough gap, carefully pried that side off, then worked my way around. Make sure that you don't completely rip the mirror 3 ft off in one swoop, because there are two wires that you need to disconnect for the heating element. They just slip on and off.
Putting the new glass in is as easy as connecting the wires up, and then firmly pressing it back on and working your way around with firm pressure. You'll likely need to do a full range of left/right up/down adjustments from the mirror controls because it's almost impossible to do this job without accidently moving the mirror motor position.
Hope that helps![]()

yup, i saw that exact one last night on ecs tuning - in total, it comes up to around AU$117 shipped to oz.
this particular one is for models "without the auto-dimming/anti-dazzle" function, which i'm not sure of.
i know my rear-view mirror comes with this feature - not sure if this extends to the wing mirrors. brochure only mentions heating, so more than likely not.
guess i could remove the broken mirror piece and confirm the part no. on it.
if i were to go with auto-dimming version (5K0857522E), its US$426 (ex. shipping) alone!!! fark-me!!
dealer is checking with spare parts on the availability of the part number for me.

You don't have auto-dimming on the external mirrors. Golf R doesn't get them either. It may be an option on Passats or something, but I'm not even sure they get them in this country....
yup, no auto-dimming here. thank goodness
anyway, spare parts came back with a figure of $205 for the supply of the mirror!!
yikes!
so i ended up ordering the one from ecs tuning - same part, almost half da price - $117 delivered
most likely take a week to get here.
i had a go at taking the old one out and putting it back in. it wasn't difficult, thanks to the advice from various sources
with the mirror out, i had a chance to take a closer look at the internals, and i'm sure relieved that there was no internal damage
