You don't have auto-dimming on the external mirrors. Golf R doesn't get them either. It may be an option on Passats or something, but I'm not even sure they get them in this country....

For the record, the Eos has this feature and I believe Passat CC may have it also. It would be impossible to have auto dimming external mirror and not be aware of it, it's very noticeable at night.

It will be impossible probably from Skoda. I have never seen any manufacturer that has just the glass piece available going as far back as the 1980's.

During my breif stint at BMW, you can get plain mirror glasses that clip in from the spare parts department.

And I would say BMW can't be the only one.

+1. kiwi sure got that wrong.
skoda does have just the glass mirror piece available to the customer. though the price is not favourable, it is available, and quickly.
i was told that they kept the spare parts in melbourne, and if needed the mirror, i let them know before 2pm, and it would b here in canberra the following day no waiting for weeks, let alone days!!
meanwhile, mine (ordered from ecs tuning) is still being processed by usps, in the states. sometime next week i'll get.....maybe.

i believe dealers/spare-parts are legally obliged to hold spare parts for each model they sell, during, and upto 3 years after the model has ceased production, or being sold.

a week after ordering the mirror from ecs tuning - it was delivered yesterday
fitted in 2 mins - popped the old one off, heating wires check, and popped the new one on.
