    Columbus Navigation Voice Input

Can anyone shed any light onto why entering a destination into navigation doesn't work via voice control?

Mines an MY15 and it lets you input all the address details but once you finish it says something about this function unavailable for this region. I asked the dealer about it and they didn't know, they said they checked another my15 in the workshop and it was the same.

The weird thing is in my 2012 1z Octavia this worked fine and also in the demo Scout I've had a few times it works (my16 I think?). It seems a strange thing to miss out on for just a certain model year when the function is clearly available.

    Otherwise voice functions work ok.

The dealer mentioned there is a pending update coming but the rollout is delayed from Skoda, they didn't know if this feature would become supported with the next map update.

I found all voice commands to be awful and don't use them. But I'm sure that it works properly in my MY14, eventually.
I think the update is to get map updates working, as updates haven't been able to work since the MK3 release until MY16 was released.

I hardly use them either for phone etc but I found the Nav input useful and not too bad, except that in the final stage of choosing the address it doesn't work.

Can't answer the OP question, but can anyone advise if voice control can be made to work by speaking the address in a normal manner, instead of backwards?
ie: addresses can't be voice-enterer (OR manually entered for that matter) by saying number, street name, suburb......
they have to be spoken/inputted as suburb first, then street name, then number

VERY frustrating, as this is NOT the natural way of writing or speaking an address.

They are all like that, it narrows down the options by selecting the suburb first then street etc.

What year is your car and does it do let you use voice input for navigation?

Not sure if this question is directed at me, or the OP.
Mine is 2016 and yes it lets me voice input navigation - but only in the format of suburb first.
But only 1 part at a time - or it asks for suburb, then waits for my input, then street, waits for my input, then number.
I cant just speak the whole address as number-streetname-suburb OR suburb-street and-number.
VERY frustrating and unnatural way of formatting an address.

The inbuilt tomtom system on my old Mazda was similar when manually inputting (suburb first) but at least if you used voice-control (which was **** hopeless and never worked properly) and spoke the address naturally with suburb last, it would usually find where you wanted to go.

i don't understand why they program these things this way.
If you're inputting an entire address, the system should be smart enough to search for the address by breaking up the terms used instead of forcing us to speak it backwards
