    Those gains are not insignificant. To me though, given the cost, that would be part of a stage 2 upgrade, where you have used stage 1 for immediate larger gains, and are then chipping away at further components after that to incrementally increase.

    Just my thoughts due to being a bit tight.

    I have the R600 in my wife's T-Roc R where I like the performance and she likes the quietness of it. Used to have it on my Golf R, but chased more noise (and sacrificed a few kws) and now have an IE open intake on the Golf.

    On the toy runaround GTI, the budget dictated a mishmash of parts making up the intake, Ramair TIP, CTS elbow, and a K&N pod (Cost less than $200). Sounds awesome, but probably has very little performance effect.

    For a cheap and reasonable performing tune, I'd suggest you look at Ecotune ($900 for Stg 1 or Stg 2), 999Automotive in Archerfield is the dealer for that. Going there for the Stg 2 tune on the GTI soon.

    Appreciate the heads up on ecotune. The website didnt list my vehicle as an option, but still worth a call when I am ready to make the leap in a couple months.

    For the time being I have ordered the parts to mod the stock intake, including the blanking plate.

    See how I go.

    I remember seeing dyno graphs and figures on the Harding Performance website where the R600 made about 5kW over 5,500rpm and 15kW or so above 6,500 rpm over the original unmodified stock intake. That 6,500rpm+ peak figure sounds great, but the dyno chart tells the full story there, with minimal gains anywhere else across the curve. They also noted that the extra power was the result of the turbo producing an extra 1psi up top.

    I'd be very interested to see an independent back-to-back dyno session comparing the R600 to a modified factory intake to see exactly where they stand.

    I personally have a modified stock box (similar to guile) coupled with a stage 1 tune and bang for buck it's hard to beat (test resukts courtesy of mymk7.com testing)

    I saw that chart myself and was impressed. The blanking plate literally just arrived as I was reading your reply.

    Now just waiting on the rest of the bits from AE and keep putting pennies aside for my tune.

    Appreciate the input.

    All parts arrived and fitted. Most things seemed pretty good. The clips for the breather hose don't quite lock in to the elbow though which I am hoping isn't going to be an issue (or I can hopefully rectify it with a hose clamp).

    It shouldn't be an issue - mine doesn't fit all that snugly, but doesn't come loose at all.

    I've often contemplated fitting a small black cable tie to fully prevent it from ever coming loose, but haven't felt the need to do it.
