    Clunk when accelerating

Thought I'd start a new thread so that if this happens to others in the future then it can be easily searchable.I've got a clunk when I accelerate more so in 1st and 2nd and it's also now appearing when I compression decelerate also. It's also making a clunk sound when I go over bumps like speed bumps or up driveways etc, and this has occurred more since I got the lower control arms installed a few weeks back. Note that the original clunk (when in 1st and 2nd) appeared before I got the lower control arms installed.

Anyway, took it to the dealer today. They road tested it and agreed it's making unusual clunking noises (yay for me, at least they acknowledge it now). They checked the engine mounts and gear box mounts. All fine. So they're not sure what's clunking? Have to take it back Thurs week and leave it with them for the day so they can do a more thorough inspection.

    Will keep you guys posted.

A google search has identified similar issues with other Skodas/VWs but no one has really seemed to find a common cause of the clunking.

BTW - It's a manual vRS petrol wagon with less than 20k's on the clock.

    something isn't greased up enough.

    something isn't tight enough.

dogbone mount is loose, or the bush you (may have) put in it isn't greased up enough.

Cheers. This looks to also be located slightly to the left of the centre of the car also isn't it as the clunking appears to be coming more so from the lefthand side of centre, if that makes sense.

There's no way in hell I'm accepting this clunk as normal. It wasn't there when I bought the car so why should it be there now.

I would suspect the subframe but also need to check the engine mounts

    It happened to my Mazda3
The drive shaft splines were suck and from time to time they moved with a clunk
Greasing the spline solved the problem

Thanks Martin. The dealer reckons they've already checked the engine mounts and all were good. Will ask them next Thursday to check the subframe and the dogbone mount.

Not sure if they can easily check the DMF?
