    Well well. Took the car into Bryan Byrt Skoda today again so they can have the car for the whole day to investigate the clunking. They just rang me and told me they won't be looking at the car until I return it to stock (replace supaloy control arms back to stock) as they said I have modified the car.

    I politely (whilst biting my tongue) told them that as noted on my 15k service sheet, the clunking noise was evident pre lower control arms replacement, hence it is not being caused by the lower control arms. Don't dispute that the lower control arms my be accentuating the noise, but it was clearly there pre-control arms replacement and has been getting worse (even pre-control arms replacement).

    Skoda are clearly trying to obsolve themselves of their responsibilities here. Firstly, they need to find the fault and then determine that the lower control arms are causing this fault, but as I've said above, this fault was evident pre-lower control arms replacement. NOT A VERY HAPPY CAMPER AT ALL!!!

    They won't even find the fault!!!

    Apparently I had faulty lower control arms. Apparently was a problem with the poly bushes. They kept squeezing out the grease (or so the installers told me anyway).

    Touch wood problem is now fixed.

    faulty supaloy arms? or the factory ones?

    I have factory ones and I get the clunk

    I had exactly the same noise and 2 VW dealers could not diagnose it properly while my car was under warranty.

    Not only that but the first dealer charged me a hefty inspection fee since the car had been modified (Bilstein cup kit) and along with the BS diagnosis (worn CV inner joint), the service desk guy gave me a ridiculous story about the problem being a known weakness for my car and the long term solution being aftermarket CV BRASS joints.

    Sounds like Skoda dealers aren't much better.

    Mine has made what sounds like the same clunk since near new, no dealer has ever been able to find and fix it.

    ok bumping this one because I had some success!

    chucked it up on the hoist, and went around with a torque wrench and did up every bolt I could find/access to manufacturer's specs. anything I couldn't move, I left. but anything that was close to maximum I gave it a 1/10th of a turn more.

    anyway, the clunk has gone. tried normal and hard acceleration and braking. no noises. happy with the outcome!

    next step, supalloy LCAs + anti-lift kit.
