    Change dome lightbulbs

    Hey guys,

I want to change all my interior lights into LED's. However in the manual it doesn't tell me how I can change the dome light (also the reading lights)?

Does any of you have an idea how I can remove the cover so I can change the bulbs?

    Thanks for your help!!

    Lex

You just pry the plastic cover surround off with some nylon trim removal tools, or if unavailable, a screwdriver wrapped in a soft cloth to prevent against damage.

    Ditto to the fingernails.

The horrible yellow interior glow was the first thing to change.

awesome, I'll have a further try.

But yeah the lighting is horrible in the car. Definitely going straight to LED's all over.

Do any of you know if indicators/break lights are legal to have them as LED??

    Just a tip...

The interior LED's from superskoda don't fit if you have a sunroof. Also, once I cut mine to eventually fit inside the light housing, I noticed the LED's don't fully turn off once the dimming function has completed. They remained lit, which looks pretty dodgy at night... I have since gone back to the old trusty light globes, which fit and function perfectly

    I don't have a sunroof.

The LED's are only lit when the auto dimming mirror is off, weird but whatever.
They are also lit when the vehicle is off.
Not very brightly, but its still there. No biggy, IMO. Just shows there is current going through them, which would happen even if there were bulbs in there. They just wouldn't light up.

I got my LED's from combining the 4 T10 parker bulbs from my 2 old cars, and buying some festoon-based ones from SCA. Works a treat!

Indicators/Brakes aren't illegal to have as LED.

But now you've opened a huge kettle of fish. :p
You have to try and find some resisted LED's.

The car measures resistance across all light bulbs (bar internal ones - the ones that everybody can see when they're blown) and alerts you on the MFD if they're not operational.
LED's use a tonne less power than traditional bulbs, so their resistance is way less. This causes issues for the computer system, and will tell you that the bulbs have blown.
    I.E. "Check numberplate light!"
If you can find some LED's with the correct resistance, by all means, by them and use them!!... Then tell everybody on the forum, and we'll probably all buy them, too!
    I know I will.

Since I had my windows tinted the auto dimming mirror doesn't work anyway so mine is permanently switched off.
I might have to try LEDs, old eyesight, tinted glass, poor or non existent street lighting and reading things in the car at night don't mix well.

I've got led indicator globes but the stop LEDs were too weak to use. Not bright enough. No bulb out warnings with any of them though.
