New member of the RS club.. Pix inside.

    Well. All done and dusted.

Changed our order to a new Octavia RS Wagon in Black Magic. It landed last week and should be here in 2-3 weeks.

Stock , plus rubber floor mats and boot protector.
    $41,250 on road.

    Very happy chappy!

All seems a bit surreal, cant wait to drive it, and see a black RS..

Thanks to all for their help.

    Dan
    (must change my sig!)

Well done Dan, I'm sure you'll be even happier when you actually get the new wagon (and it might seem like ages, but spare a thought for those who factory order and wait for 4 months or so )

What were the differences that finally sold you ? (between the "loaded" 1.8TFSI and RS versions)

TBH simply the inner petrolhead in me.. (its the family mans GTi ffs)

At first the numbers didn't stack up, but a few things recently changed at work, meaning i could splash out a bit more. Getting a quote for $645 insurance also meant it was doable.

I will miss the lack of MF steering wheel and sunroof (as on our Golf) but this will be more than compensated by the extra grunt and handling im sure..
There is also the thing about 'if you are goinhg to do it, do it properly' and I didn't want to be regreting it a year down the track.
Also as someone pointed out, resale should be better - base RS vs loaded 1.8.

I still maintain the 1.8 is a great engine and will be more than adequate for most people. Just i like fast sleepers I guess.

    Previous cars ( to give you an idea of where i am coming from) have been;
Renault Sport Clio 172, Peugeot 306 S16, Nissan Skyline R33 GTSt (modded to 300bhp). As you can see, i don't have much brand loyalty - I go for what suits me at the time, and puts smile on my face.
2 kids and 2 dogs mean more responsibilty now and a bigger car is needed, however this doesn't have to mean no fun..

    phew! long post..
