Car statistics/fuel consumption reset by itself

I've had my RS for just over 5 months now and have driven just shy of 3000km during that time. This whole time, I've watched with interest what my "long term" fuel consumption has been since the day I bought it.
However, on my most recent recent trip, I noticed that my long term data had been reset and is now reporting the same information as "since start". I'm certain that I didn't reset this myself because I don't even know how to do it.
Has this happened to any of you? Is there a way to bring back my beloved long term data again? I'm lost as to how this happened by itself.

On my Polo GTI, it gets to a certain mileage and resets itself. Maybe 2500kms in your case? Or 2750?

    From the Owners Manual.....
"The memory gathers driving data from any number of individual journeys up to a total of 99 hours and 59 minutes driving time or 9 999 kilometres driven.
The indicator is automatically set back to zero if one of the indicated values is exceeded."
I just noticed yesterday that mine has also reset recently. I must have reached 100 hrs!

Yeah... It's stupid and annoying... I have no idea why they couldn't have done it differently.

    Hi
This can be prevented by resetting the tripmeter everytime you fill up for example. Had mine for 1.5 years, thought it would reset at service but still there. Resetting the tripmeter also resets the timer without messing up long-term consumption.

I do reset at each fill up but my long term consumption still reset after 100hrs.

Wonder if there would be a difference between petrol and diesel engines but trip computers should be the same. I thought once tripmeter is reset, resets the timer as well. Will fill up mine on the weekend and have a look what it does.

The trip options vary between VW/Skoda/etc models depending on age/type/release of vehicle.

The MQB based mk3 Octavia offers three trip/consumption options:
Current trip - current journey since start showing average fuel consumption/average speed/distance travelled/ journey time, all of which reset to zero if the engine is switched off for a couple of hours. Can be reset manually
Current tank - similar display options that reset automatically when refueled (Once I topped the tank with a small amount of fuel and it did not reset). Can be reset manually
"Long term" - similar display options that reset automatically at 99hours/9999 km. Can be reset manually.

There is also the usual separate trip distance (only) permanent display on the maxidot that I tend to reset when I refuel anyway.

I record my fuel purchases into Fuelly.com for long-term consumption and check accuracy of the maxidot display, which in my car's case appears to be remarkably accurate.

Just remembered that I turned off the timer im my MFD. Maybe the reason mine has not reset. I turned off some of those counters as had no use for them and don't want to scroll through everything everytime I want to have a look at something. You can choose what you want displayed on MFD but again cannot guarantee that all MFD are customisable.
