    When I bought my 2007 model the RS was 18*8. I remember because it was one of the advantages over the Golf GTI I was considering..... then I realised that 99% of my driving was commuting on the M5 & bought the 1.8TSI instead.

    So 18*8.5 would need to be ET40.

    Is funny, I really keen on some lightweight 17"s & all the 2nd hand stuff on forums at good prices is 19"s or really wide 18"s.

    I thought stock Octy rims were 18x7.5 ET45!!
    Not sure what my Panthers are, though... But I know they're 18x7.5!

    @Tigger- Go for Detroits.

    RE: Wheel choice... Ever since I got my first car (admittedly only in 2009) I've been looking for appropriate aftermarket wheels. It just so happens by chance I was browsing the Tempe Tyres site one afternoon and saw the Panther Flite style rims. Went to the shop, put them against the car and they looked great. Now they're mine.

    Agreed - Man vs. Rims sounds like a show I'd watch.

    I'm up for that, although if we are to follow the format of the real show (v Food I'm thinking) then clearly we need to be looking for something in the 50 inch range:

    I'm biased but I'm still curious as to how the Detroits would turn out.

    Yikes. It would be good for you to know the name of them in case someone happens to be selling a used set (to search / keep an eye out on ebay, other forums, etc), and the timing is right so to speak.

    OK, so now I have been a little more reasonable with price.
    What do we all think of these instead??

    Be honest please... I wont be offended... (tough if I am anyway haha)

    Good - but the lack of a visible rim is bugging me...(where is the round wheel?)
